Greetings my friends from Hivers and the Homeedders community. At home we are on school vacation and we cannot go out for a walk at this time, since the situation is tense in Venezuela after the elections held on Sunday, July 28. In the streets there are people defending freedom, streets and businesses closed, people injured, missing and dead, streets lit up all over the country, events that I think everyone around the world already knows, since they are hot news that are going around the world. In the warmth of my home I try to stay informed, keep a lot of faith and pray a lot to God; but also making the atmosphere for my girls happy in the middle of what is happening; so today, very early I got up to create a strategy to learn math in an entertaining and fun way through play; also to try to make them not feel bored since we cannot risk going out because we do not know what can happen.
Saludos mis amigos Hivers y de la comunidad Homeedders. En casa nos encontramos en vacaciones escolares y sin poder en este tiempo salir a las calles de paseo, puesto que la situación es tensa en Venezuela luego de las elecciones efectuadas el domingo 28 de julio. En las calles está el pueblo defendiendo la libertad, calles y negocios cerrados, personas heridas, desaparecidas y muertas, calles encendidas en todo el país, acontecimientos que creo ya todos a nivel mundial conocen, puesto que son noticias calientes que están dando la vuelta al mundo. En el calor de mi hogar trato de estar informada, mantener mucha fe y orando mucho a Dios; pero también haciendo la atmósfera a mis niñas feliz en medio de lo que acontece; por lo que hoy, muy temprano me levante a crear una estrategia para aprender matemáticas de manera entretenida y divertida mediante el juego; también para tratar de que no se sientan aburridas ya que no podemos arriesgarnos en salir a la calle porque no sabemos que pueda suceder.
As parents, our role is to look after the well-being of our children in all areas, even when social and political conditions are difficult. Therefore, my role at this time, amidst the news that is circulating, is to keep them emotionally stable. To do this, I must look for ways and forms that are focused, which is better through play and mathematics. Three strategies were appropriate for this morning with extremely simple materials, which we all have at home and which I present to you so that you can put each one into practice in the teaching of your children from your home.
Como padres y como madres nuestro rol y papel es velar por el bienestar de nuestros hijos en todas las áreas aun cuando las condiciones sociales y políticas están difíciles; por lo que, mi papel en está hora en medio de las noticias que circulan es mantenerlas emocionalmente estable; para ello, debo buscar maneras y formas que estén concentradas, que mejor mediante juego y matemáticas. Tres estrategias fueron las propicias para esta mañana con materiales sumamente sencillos, que todos tenemos en casa y que les presento para que desde tu hogar pongas en práctica cada una en la enseñanza de tus hijos.
Strategy #1 (Cooking addition, subtraction and multiplication) / Estrategia #1 (Cocinando sumas, restas y multiplicaciones)
On a white sheet of paper, I drew some egg omelettes and bacon with coloured markers. On one side, the pink bacon had a multiplication, addition or subtraction written on the centre; in addition, I drew some egg omelettes that had the result in the centre.
En una hoja blanca con marcadores de colores realicé el dibujo de unas tortillas de huevo y tocinetas. Por un lado, las tocinetas en tono rosa en su centro tenían anotados bien sea una multiplicación, una suma o resta; además de ello, dibuje unas tortillas de huevo que en su centro tenían el resultado.
To apply this activity, I asked my girls to look for their kitchen-related toys; sauces, vegetables, plates, a kitchen stove, a pot, spoons, and many others. Once the space was prepared, I set it up according to how the math strategy was carried out. In the pot or frying pan I placed a result (egg omelet) and my oldest daughter had to respond to this with the corresponding operation; for example: 24 is the result of 8x3; you can also play the opposite game by placing a piece of bacon in the pan and using the omelet to give the result.
Para aplicar esta actividad solicite a mis niñas buscar sus juguetes en relación a la cocina; salsas, verduras, platos, cocinita, paila, cucharas y otros tantos. Una vez, preparado el espacio para ambientarlo acorde a como fue realizada la estrategia matemática. En la paila o sartén les colocaba un resultado (tortilla de huevo) mi hija mayor debía responder a esta con la operación que correspondía; por ejemplo: 24 es el resultado de 8x3; también puede jugarse al contrario colocar en la sartén una tocineta y con la tortilla dar el resultado.
Strategy #2 (Candy multiplications) / Estrategia #2 (Multiplicaciones de caramelos)
One of the things that my oldest daughter doesn't like is studying multiplication. For her, it is such a tedious process that I have to somehow get her to learn it. Therefore, on white sheets of paper I drew some candies with brightly colored markers; on the left side I wrote down the operations and on the right the result as shown below:
Una de las cosas que a mi hija mayor no le gusta es estudiar las multiplicaciones, para ella es un proceso tan tedioso que de alguna manera debo hacer que se anime a su aprendizaje. Por ello, en hojas blancas dibuje unos caramelos con marcadores en tonos vistosos; al lado izquierdo anote las operaciones y hacia la derecha el resultado como se muestra a continuación:
One of the things to do is to cut out the operation from the result. Make as many candies as you can and repeat the colors so that they can put their mind to thinking and place the result that really corresponds. Place everything mixed up without any order and it is a matter of them taking one of the parts (the one with the operation) and looking for the result to put them together.
Una de las cosas es recortar para separar la operación del resultado. Haz tantos caramelos como puedas y repitiendo colores para que puedan poner su mente a pensar y colocar el resultado que verdaderamente corresponde. Coloca todo mezclado sin orden alguno y es cuestión de que tomen una de las partes (la de la operación) y buscar el resultado para unirlos.
Strategy #3 (Colorful operations): / Estrategia #3 ( Coloridas operaciones):
One of the things that draws the attention of every child is colors; so, in a colorful way, I carried out these operations horizontally with some number stamps. As for this activity, it consisted of handing out the sheet where the corresponding result had to be placed in the marked space.
Una de las cosas que a todo niño y niña llama su atención son los colores; por lo que, de manera colorida con unos sellos de números realicé estas operaciones en forma horizontal. En cuanto a esta actividad consistía en entregar la hoja donde en el espacio marcado debía colocar el resultado correspondiente.
Benefits of these strategies:
They learn math (addition, subtraction and multiplication) in a creative and colorful way.
We develop the minds of our little ones, the ability to reason and analytical thinking.
They teach us to solve numerical problems.
It is important to teach them about math from an early age, as it contributes to the development of cognitive skills.
It awakens the ability to reason, analyze and think critically.
They learn to become familiar with math as an integral part of our daily life.
Beneficios de estas estrategias:
Aprenden matemáticas (sumas, restas y multiplicaciones) de manera creativa e ilustradamente colorida.
Desarrollamos las mentes de nuestros pequeños, la capacidad de razonamiento y pensamiento analítico.
Nos enseñan a resolver problemas numéricos.
Es importante enseñarles sobre matemáticas desde temprana edad, ya que contribuye al desarrollo de habilidades cognitivas.
Despierta la capacidad para razonar, analizar y pensar críticamente.
Aprenden a familiarizarse con las matemáticas como parte integral de nuestra vida diaria.
To close this content, I can add that it is a good strategy to spend a fun, entertaining time in the middle of the cooking game with math (this was my girls' favorite) and where family ties are strengthened; each of the strategies allowed us to spend a time where it was not only my oldest daughter thinking about what to answer but I was there to help her correct her math mistakes, giving clues and on the other hand her little sister learning the numbers and quantities that she does not know, while she was entertained by watching her answer. On the other hand, the complicity in the middle of the game was present when the youngest of the house wanted to answer the math problems that she does not know because of her age but her sister gave her the figure or result speaking in her ear. Really some very nice hours of learning and teaching math in the middle of the national panorama as I had told you at the beginning of the content.
Para cerrar este contenido, puedo añadir que resulta una buena estrategia para en medio del juego de cocina con matemáticas (este fue el preferido de mis niñas) pasar un tiempo divertido, entretenido y donde los lazos familiares se fortalecen; cada una de las estrategias permitió pasar un tiempo donde no solo era mi hija mayor pensando en que responder sino que estaba mi ayuda para corregir sus equivocaciones matemáticas, dando pistas y por otro lado su hermanita aprendiendo los números y cantidades que desconoce, mientras se entretenía en verla responder. Por otro lado, la complicidad en medio del juego estaba presente cuando la más pequeña de la casa quería responder a los problemas matemáticos de los cuales por su edad desconoce pero su hermana le daba la cifra o resultado hablando a la oreja. Realmente unas horas muy bonitas de aprendizaje y enseñanzas matemáticas en medio del panorama nacional como les había comentado en un inicio del contenido.
