Hello, Hive community, it feels good to write here once again, l haven't been active in a while now for some reasons that is beyond me. Well today I would like to share a little bit about the topic Expensive or cheap. This i believe is a very subjective topic because different individuals have different opinions on this very topic. Well without further ado, let's begin.
Expensive or cheap?
It's all about perception, the price you think it's cheap to another person it's expensive and the price you are complaining is expensive, to another person it's cheap. Whatever value you perceive you are getting from a product or service is determined majorly by your income or your personal needs that are of top most priority.
Most people often attribute good quality to high prices and low quality to low prices, as the saying goes "better soup na money killer am" this implies that "High prices guarantees Quality". well that may be true in most cases yet not all the time.
Have you ever had to pick between two products of different brands and you opted for the one with the higher price believing it has more quality than the other with a lower price? Only for you to find out later to your disappointment that the item with lower price is much better. I know right, I've been there too.
There have been many cases where products with affordable prices outperforms the expensive ones in terms of quality and value.
Relatively in fashion design, clients naturally attribute a nice and well decorated workspace to luxury and high quality outfits and better customer experience, yes in fashion a book it's judged by its cover it's true, but it's not always true. A well decorated workspace may attract customers but that doesn't guarantees a good outfit. What client should be more concerned about is the creative process, customer experience and attention to details and finishes on the outfits.
Is it wrong to have a nice and well decorated workspace? No, but that should not be the template with which clients should measure the quality of an outfit. Reason being that some fashion designers may not necessarily have a nice workspace some might not even own a shop, they are working from home but mehnn....they deliver neat and quality outfits.
Before( setting up my workspace)
Still in the process of setting up my workspace.
As a fashion designer, I have had people walk up to me and say "Oga your prices are too high, haba for just normal kaftan? others have said it's fair, while others even doubted my credibility because they feel the prices are too low. This made me realized that prices are influenced by some factors such as location, cost of production and labour hence resulting to the variation in prices of outfits or services. In as much as individuals associate quality with high prices, it is important to look beyond the prices of this outfits or services and rather evaluate the performance, value and end feeling of this outfit or services.
In conclusion, there's no such thing as expensive or cheap. The fashion designer who rents a workspace cannot charge the same amount as the fashion designer who works from home, also a fashion designer who lives where electricity is readily available cannot charge the same way as a fashion designer who lives in a location where they depend on fuel and gas to supply power. This are some of the factors that influence the variations in prices. Clients will pay any amount once they perceived they get value and are being valued.
