Greetings All
What a perfect week of writing. Not on my own stuff but rather a few blogs here and there. It's been nice catching up with things that need to be done but I never have any time to do it in.
Anyway, our two parties are finally back before Queen Mary and are reporting what they have been doing. Be sure to catch up on what @zakludick has been writing before getting stuck into this update.
Mary sat in silence as she viewed those gathered before her. She had many conflicted feelings but managed to keep her face neutral. The giant Millmor carried the unconscious Robert over his shoulder and refused to put him down or have any of the castle retainers take him.
The man who had once been Leo, but now went by the name of Rex Fortis, stood close by. As if he was waiting for something terrible to happen. Mary couldn’t help but wonder if this had something to do with the unconscious Robert.
The queen had been surprised when she received the letter from the Knight, as she had thought him dead after the fight with the Titans. She had even given him honour upon his perceived death. She allowed her mind to wander about the implications of that but forced herself to continue looking over the newest party member.
The large green-skinned female, while her eyes showed some nervousness, the rest of her body language showed not only power but confidence. Mary also noticed that she stood fairly close to her son, which did surprise her. She did catch the two of them shooting glances at each other now and again and the small smiles that disappeared as quickly as they appeared.
Interesting.
She then looked to where her daughter and Mortis stood. As usual, she couldn’t read Mortis, but her daughter had a faraway look in her eyes and seemed jittery. She had acted the same way after the Titans and that worried Mary.
Then there were the two wolves. One she knew was Derric, the white one, but he seemed to be pinning a second, smaller pup that seemed adamant in its attempts to get to Adrain. The more she looked at the second wolf, the more she was sure that it wasn’t a normal wolf.
“It’s a Warg, Mother.” Said Adrian.
His speaking broke her wandering mind and snapped her back to the situation.
“Where is Noxus?” she asked.
Adrian, now sure that his mother hadn’t heard a word he had said in the last 10 minutes, sighed and started again.
“Mother, this is Gorma, the representative of the Greenskins. While she is from a specific tribe, which I will go into later, she has been sent with us to help find Innana.”
“I heard that part.” Mary got off her throne and stepped forward as Gorma bowed her head low. “Daughter of a tribal leader, a princess then?”
“Mother.” Mumbled Adrian as his cheeks went a slight pink.
Grinning at her teasing, Mary stood before the tall orc woman and extended her hand. Gorma, raised by simpler people, gripped it hard and shook it firmly. Mary could hear the near-silent groans of her soldiers in the room but couldn’t help but smile genuinely at Gorma’s nature.
“An honour.” Said Gorma brightly as she released the queen.
“Mine too.” Mary rubbed her hand, impressed by the strength, “So, Innana? I’m afraid my people aren’t familiar with this person.”
“She’s a goddess.” Piped up Vitex as she suddenly popped over Gorma’s shoulder.
It took all Mary’s training not to act surprised by the child-like goddess that suddenly appeared. Then her words sunk in, and Mary also deflated.
“There are more of you?”
“More than I had hoped, but less than I wished.”
Mary turned to her son once more and asked, “Where is Noxus?”
Before he could answer, the mage appeared in the throne room. She saw the queen turn to face her, and she bowed quickly.
“I sent her to Uncle.” Said Adrian softly, “Don’t be mad at her.”
“Derric, Adiran wishes to see you.” Said Noxus as soon as she stood up. “You too Magna, as soon as we’re done reporting.”
“Not Robert?” asked Adrian.
“Not yet, but that is a discussion for later.” Noxus then stepped aside from the door, indicating that Derric needed to go now.
Derric rolled his eyes, lowered his head to grip the back of the Warg pup’s neck, and lifted it. It took him a few steps to deposit the pup at Adrian’s feet, and a few more to disappear from the room.
“Noxus, would you like to report what has happened?” asked Mary.
“No, I think Magna can handle that herself. She did a marvellous job with our new neighbours.” Noxus then turned and left abruptly.
Mary blinked a few times, wondering if she had been too lenient with Noxus when Magna started talking about what had happened with the Greenskins. Mary listened as she returned to her seat. She couldn’t help but smile. Her daughter had done everything she had expected of her and much more. Jonathan would have been so proud. However, the promise of looking for more lost gods and goddesses was an odd oath to bind herself to.
Once Magna was done speaking, Mary turned her attention to Millmor and asked, “And what about your party? I didn’t gleam much from your message or the one sent by Robert.”
“Barakus the Magnus.” Said Millmor softly.
The name tore through those in the throne room, and Mary was surprised when an older soldier dropped his spear and didn’t pick it up again. Despite the surprise, she didn’t chastise him, that name was never meant to be spoken in polite company, not since Johnathan was a young boy. Mary had only heard snippets while Johnathan’s parents were alive, but it wasn’t much. However, what she had heard was disgusting. She slumped in her seat. If those rumours were true, then…
Her thoughts were interrupted when Adiran joined them with Noxus on his heel. His face was spire white, and he asked Millmor to repeat what he had said. Millmor, now uncomfortable, repeated the name.
Adiran shuddered and muttered, “More bad news.”
“More? I am yet to hear bad news.” Said Mary.
“That’s because we haven’t mentioned anything about Robert yet.” Millmor pointed to the unconscious man on his shoulder.
Adiran took one look at the man, and his eyes grew wide. He shot Magna a look and then looked at Robert and muttered one word. No one was sure if it was magical or profanity.
And back to Zak.
