As mentioned in my previous post about the two day road trip over the weekend along with the husband's friend and work mates, let me share with you today one of the well known tourist spots in Taipei.
I think everyone knows that Taipei is the capital of Taiwan and your itinerary wouldn't' be completed if you haven't dropped by at Taipei 101.
Short Trivia
Since I am just a tourist here I did a bit of research and found out that it was built to emphasize the success/growth of the country when it comes to technology. It was called Taipei 101 as the skyscraper had 101 floors!
It was a long trip from Kaohsiung plus the unexpected traffic along the road maybe perhaps since it was weekend. Many chose to go out and have fun. I was trying to recall what time we arrived here yet I failed all I could remember it was past in the evening.
Photos were taken while we were still driving looking for a parking space.
While in the line to buy a ticket, I am already thinking if it was worth it. Yet our companions were so eager as they wanted to see the damper This is the secret, opss not sure why it can withstand earthquakes!
Going inside, I didn't expect that there would still be a long line! It was our companions who bought a ticket since he can speak mandarin fluently.
Seeing the ticket price surprise me as it varies! One of our companions paid 300NT as he presented his student ID here. My husband and the one ticket cost 420 NT upon presenting their ARC (Alien residency card). I find it too expensive as it costs 600 NT for tourists 🤣.
The only good thing was it comes with discount vouchers that could be used in several stores.
By the way, our ticket was only up to the 89th floor. The top or also called Skyline cost 3000NT. That was too expensive for us!
Again, we patiently stand in line for the bullet elevator that would take us to our destination.
Mixed with local residents and tourists! Somehow in between, an alley was decorated with flowers in which you can have some photos. This helps though not to get bored while waiting.
At first, I thought it was real flowers but due to curiosity I touched it. LOL found out not.

So, this is why it takes time! Everyone could strike a pose here, and there was a photographer assigned. Then, you may claim your photos upstairs with that background.
Finally we hopped in the elevator and what? We are on the 89th floor already? That was too fast, like I was only with a blink of an eye! How I wish back in my country we are using bullet elevators too!
The first thing that we searched for was the damper! After a few minutes here it is!
It was located on the 88th floor and the photo above was taken while I was at the 89th. It was like a viewing area where you can see it totally from above.
WOW! Seeing how big it is and how it creates magic, rather than science I couldn't help but be amazed how this thing could set the whole building in balance during a natural disaster.
Honestly, I was cautious while taking a photo, afraid that I might accidentally drop my phone! It's okay if it will be damaged only but what if it would be a source of malfunction as such? That would be a disaster.
Afterwards, we started to roam around and excitedly went to the corner of the glass floor. There was a certain area where the floor was made of glass and you could clearly see the bottom part. If you had Acrophobia it would be challenging to step in as it feels like you will be falling anytime.
I took a photo of it but didn't notice it was blurred 🤣. Thus, that's the area where we are standing.
We all had different preferences of everything so, I am not sure which one would you prefer going here. Daytime or night time? However, since I went here at night I would be sharing what to see here.
Yep, what you will be seeing is the magnificent view of city lights! Those buildings were illuminated and even the endless road. Though peaking at this side feels like the ground was shaking. I am not sure if it's me, feeling it was like or it was really! What do you think?
As for me, all I know I had a great weekend!
Note: There is still much to see on the whole 89th floor but it would be too long to write. Perhaps will be sharing about it again next time.
