LEO Power Up Day - December 15, 2024

The photo is amazing

The air is crisp. Inhaling deep the forest aromas of growth and decay

Set the scene that took me 'home'. When I was a child we didn't have watches. I don't remember seeing the sun as we walked in the forest. Everything was so large, the growth so dense. We knew the day was over because my mother's voice would rise above the trees and somehow find us. She would call our names, in age order, and we would leave the forest.

I can actually hear her voice now. You helped to bring that back, although your picture is very different from my memory. There was no road. No path. My brothers cut their way through the undergrowth and the path was in their heads. They were never wrong, never lost.

That sounds like an amazing place. Such wilderness also has its dangers, but you can't beat its beauty and lessons. It's awesome you have such great memories. I also grew up in a rural area until about the age of six, when we moved to the city. So I've been a city boy for awhile. Maybe I'm making up for it now by walking around in the bushes. 😀

Actually, I wasn't much older than that when these events occurred. We didn't leave the rural area until I was eleven, but before that one of my brothers became very ill and the dynamic in the house changed completely. As I'm sure you will agree, those early years traipsing in the forest helped form my personality. You are lucky you had that experience, also.
