I woke up with food on my mind this morning and fondly remembered how a couple of months ago I visited a Korean-style chicken joint. The menu in this restaurant opened my mind to a new culinary adventure. I had no idea you could do so many delicious things to a chicken.
Frankly, the menu was a little overwhelming given the wide range of unfamiliar choices. It was written in English, but I got the impression that the names had been translated from the original Korean. Given that I wanted something simple and no mystery surprises, I opted for the familiar chicken wings.
I didn't know what those little white cubes were, but they were magnificent paired with the wings
They did not taste like traditional chicken wings but had that exotic flavour that comes with Asian spices.
I noticed a few desert items, and not recognizing any of them, I chose the six little pastry balls because they reminded me of Tim Horton's Timbits, which are a Canadian staple. A layer of deep-fried goodness with a flavourful creamy centre.
What I liked about this experience was the cross-cultural aspect of it. The atmosphere was modern and vibrant with that hip Asiatic vibe. The food was familiar and unfamiliar with ingredients and methods used in Korean cuisine. An absolute delight and perfect for a casual evening.
Just give it little bite and enjoy!
