Let's face it, Halloween is not the same without pumpkins. The pleasure of grabbing your tool and slowly sculpting a pumpkin by the crackling fire (with hot cocoa) is an autumnal pleasure that elicits feeling of what the Danish call Hygge. If you're committed, you might even get a pumpkin carving tool set from Amazon or Temu. Of course, if you don't want to patronize the evil empire then any old knife will do.
Carving a pumpkin is fun for the whole family, as chatGPT would say. Specially the final moment when you stick a candle, electric bulb, or bottle full of fireflies in the hollowed out vegetable, filling the cavity with light and our devilish souls with joy.
I understand that there are nations around the world where carving a pumpkin is not a thing for cultural, agricultural, social, or many other reasons. Let's face it, not everybody celebrates Halloween, though it has been making inroads in places like Japan and other parts of Asia. What's not to love about tempting and taunting the spirits of the night with pagan hijinks?
I decided to create some pumpkins that use steampunk stylings to generate the images. That's it. Nothing complicated. No hidden political agendas, religious controversies, pseudo-erotic imagery, or secret sauce. Just plain old steampunk-carved pumpkins.
If you have a favourite one, let me know which one by copying and pasting the image in the comment box. I hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful Halloween! 👻
