As we were staying, during our road trip to move to Scotland, in an AirBnB in Grandtown-on-Spey for a few days. We just had to check out this meadow and other walking paths as we were right next to it. The back yard of the little cottage looked out over it.
So, one late afternoon we dressed up well with gloves 𧀠and scarfs 𧣠and headed in the direction of the meadow. Come join us π
Our first view of the park and meadow. The walking path was frozen π₯Ά over. So we walk just next to it, as we donβt want to slip and fall.
We take in some details around us. How can I notβ¦ I took my big camera out to play π So I can show you what I saw.
The walking path / trail takes us through some woodland. The ground is softer here, no ice π§ covers it.
On the right side next to us is an area that looks like march land. Maybe even a large pond. Most of the surface is frozen π₯Ά a light fog is appearingβ¦ a large bird standing tall π₯° Can you spot it?
I zoom out further for you.
We walk a bit and look through the trees⦠more fog is forming on the right.
We decide to walk around it through the woods π²π³π²π³
Just look at the frozen water π§ very icy π₯Ά
The fog is coming along nicely. I #love dark and #moody days π they make for some great #captures.
We follow the path further around the frozen βpondβ, such rich colours this afternoon. It is 1700h here.
Peeking through the trees as we walk. (I am secretly wishing that the heron stays where we saw it)
Not much further we see some #DUCKS They are in the areas no ice has formed so farβ¦ swimming towards us. Ohβ¦ if I had known there were ducks I would have brought some bread π with me.
Such a beautiful setting nowβ¦ the #fog is getting thicker, the ducks in the foreground π¦π¦

I focus on the ducks π¦ So cute π₯°
We walk further and said goodbye to themβ¦
Over the path along the water.
Until π³ I stop youβ¦ donβt walk too fast, go quietly now as the heron is there. We sneak upβ¦
Yes! The heron is still there. I capture the following #photograph πΈ
My favourite of today π₯° the tree branches framing him.
I sneak a bit further towards the edge, so I can take some more photographs of him π
We watch for a while until he flies awayβ¦.
As we wander further around we see more ducks π¦ even a couple of white ducks.
On the edge of the pond they come towards us againβ¦ where is my bread π
I see they have shelter to sleep warm. Right next to a walking path so more people will come for sure.
I show you the different ducks. So cute βΊοΈ
Shall we walk furtherβ¦ we have to be careful as the path becomes all icy in a moment. π₯Ά it is no water, just ice π§
Next to our walking path we see the sign of #KYLINTRA #WOOD π³π²
Yes, we decide to walk a bit more. Just the first loop is not enough for us haha π
A little river runs next to us. Not fully frozen π₯Ά

After a while we reach a little bridge.
The river comes very close to our trail now.
These leaves π stood out, the water π¦ drips making the scene special.
We are wandering through the forest / woodβ¦ It looks like we could walk forever. So beautiful to have this right next to a town. If I would live hereβ¦ I would be wandering the woods each day π for sure.
Look at that cute little tree π³ its orange π§‘β€οΈ red leaves π stand out so much in its surroundings π
So many trees with different forms and shapes.
This giant is awesome π€© look at its bark.
We walk further and take a long loopβ¦ we end up at the meadow area. We walk here again next to the path, as it is frozen and slipperyβ¦
A short cut hahaha way off the path. The mist / fog is reaching more grounds π
Some βOLD MANβS BEARD LICHENβ on the branches around us. More information about this lichen you find here: Beard lichens / Usnea and on Wikipedia about Usnea.
Closer look at some other lichen. The branch guiding you towards it π€
We reach the area we started in and see the AirBnB through the trees. We decide to walk a bit further.
We see this beautiful tree next to a stream.
A better path into the distanceβ¦
And next to it we find this sign πͺ§
We reached the meadow again and go back to the cottage to warm up at the fireplaceβ¦
Our view out of the cottage towards the walking area we just have been at.
