We can’t always have a perfect mood, we only try to balance our moods and we can’t just sit at a spot to balance our mood, well, that doesn’t work for me at least, There are some things that I do or engage in to keep my mood balanced.
There are a lot of things going on that can disrupt one’s mood, a lot of ups and downs that can barely make one maintain their mood and these things happen in our everyday lives.
Most times, I feel this imbalance in me, like I can’t control my emotions or perhaps I can’t define them, sometimes I feel angry and I can’t even figure. There are different kinds of emotions that one can feel that can affect one’s mood, since we can’t just yell at those emotions telling them to be stabilized, we just have to do some things to balance our moods.
I am someone who quickly gets stressed while I am doing or into a particular thing that is going as planned but one thing I do a lot is to breathe, anytime I feel quite overwhelmed and I can sense that my mood is not really stable. I just take a few breaths and smile.
Most times, if just taking quick breaths doesn’t do the trick, there are some other effective ways I do consider.
BOOK READING
Something I love to do to calm myself down is reading. I love reading a lot, it just makes me forget about the unnecessary things that stress me out, it is a big mood enhancer for me.
Now, I don’t mean school books, because they obviously stress me out, hehe. I love anything that deals with stories, it just gives me so much comfort, I love reading books more because I enjoy imagining and picturing the story in my head.
This moment just helps me escape from reality and delve into my imagination, apart from the fact that book reading is a good exercise for the brain, it helps to reduce stress, and freedom from external demands.
I don’t really find that relaxation in reading nonfiction books, but recently, I started reading “Think and Grow Rich” and I love how it balances my mood, there is always something new to learn in the chapter and I found it quite helpful.
Reading books just works for me any time and day.
CROCHETING
Another activity that significantly enhances my mood is crocheting, since learning new things helps me enhance my mood or should I say new comforting things, because new things like tech-related ones don’t help my mood at all. But learning other new things just increases my mood.
Recently, I started learning some new things relating to crochet and I am always so excited to learn more. I love the feeling it gives, I just smile when I see that I got a pattern right, this makes me easily get lost in the moment, forgetting any imbalances in my mood.
Most times I do this with music which makes it more enjoyable and perfect. Music is a very good enhancer to me, music carries this tranquility that promotes a positive and right mood. Also, it helps me to focus and block out negative emotions while I crochet.
MOVIES
Just like books, movies provide a form of escapism which I enjoy. I just take a moment to go with the flow of the movie. Many people don’t see movies as a mood enhancer but to me, it is surely therapeutic.
I have recently gotten used to anime and currently, I am watching One Piece and it is always a great moment for me to balance my mood.
THE SKY
The sky is one of my favorite things to view, I love the view of nature but sometimes, I might not be able to be in a place with nature but the sky is always there for me. I love the sight of clouds it is so calming.
Most time, I do this in the evening. It is usually always sunny in the afternoon and the only time I can confidently look at the sky without the sun burning my eyes. I love the sky, it always shows different shapes of clouds, the colours.
I love to sit under the gentle breeze of the evening and admire the beauty of the sky. It is amazing how a few moments of this can increase my mood. Nature is just so beautiful, too beautiful to increase my mood
These are the main things I do to stabilize my mood, and they work for me any time. I am sure we all have activities that we do to balance our mood, feel free share in the comment section.
