MY ULTIMATE CHOICE •/• Choosing My Lifetime Staples

Many of us have favorite foods, drinks and other items we enjoy. Personally, Whenever someone asks me what my favourite food is, I find it quite hard to answer because I can’t really pinpoint a particular one. I have a lot of favourite sometimes it all depends on my mood.

But let’s imagine I have to live off a particular food, fruit and drink for my entire life without getting tired of them. What would I choose? It is tough to decide because I’d likely get of eating the same thing repeatedly. However, the chosen food would have to be the best possible option.

If I had to pick one food, it would be Rice. Rice is one of the most common foods in my country. I don’t think anyone can go a week without eating rice in some form. One reason why rice is so popular here is because it is incredibly versatile.

There are so many ways to enjoy rice, such as jollof rice, fried rice, coconut rice, rice and stew, rice and beans, native rice, concoction rice, rice with vegetables, egusi or curry sauce. It can even be ground to make tuwo shinkafa or rice moi moi, among many other dishes.

Choosing rice is a good decision because I have become quite accustomed to eating rice that I know it would be the best choice. Also, if I get bored with all of these variations, I can try out rice recipes from other countries. If needed to be more specific, I would go for rice and beans. This is one of my favourite ways to enjoy rice because it is usually so delicious with a very good sauce or stew. Plus, the addition of beans makes it even better.


When it comes to fruits, I have quite a few that I love. My top favourites are watermelon, blueberries, bananas, and mangoes, and it is really hard to choose just one. Each has its own unique appeal.

If I had to pick one, I’d go with mangoes. Although mangoes are seasonal, if they could be available all year round, it would be perfect. I simply love the taste of magic and don’t think I would easily get tired of them. It is funny because I don’t even like mango/flavoured products, but I love the fruit itself.


Lastly, for a drink to enjoy for a lifetime. It definitely wouldn’t be soft drinks or carbonated drinks. I am not a huge fan of soft drinks because the usually burn my throat, ha. I know some people love that feeling but I certainly don’t.

One drink I don’t readily get tired of is yoghurt. I love yoghurt because it doesn’t have the harsh, fizzy sensation of carbonated drinks. it just goes down smooth and calmly. Yoghourt is also nutritious, with a lot of benefits like protecting bones and teeth, reducing blood pressure, supporting gut health and more.

Ah my love! You just enumerated plenty things I like! You have great tastes and Rice is a world general food in fact. It is everywhere like mosquito.

Although, it's not easy sticking to one food forever but rice is one of my favourites and it would definitely make my list because I can prepare rice in different ways just to ensure I don't get tired of a particular type.

Mangoes make a lot of sense too, I will enjoy a lot of mango juice and smoothies. You remind me of the old good days with Hollandia, I bet the yoghurt is not for the masses anymore.
