In this day and age, many people are now embracing online shopping, unlike a few years back when most were hesitant and skeptical about buying online.
Since I started becoming more active in affiliate marketing, I decided to create a Facebook page yesterday. As I was creating the page, I thought about what else it could offer people besides providing discounts.
One of the things I thought of was to give tips and guides on how to become a smart online shopper. I'll be posting guides and tips on my Facebook page that some people may already know but don't practice in real life. These guides will remind them of things they know but tend to forget to do.
As my mother always says, reminders are medicine for those who forget.
So, for my first tip:
Do you really need what you're about to buy?

Many of us end up buying things that we don't actually need in our lives. Maybe we just found it attractive and thought it would look good as a display at home, even though it doesn't really serve any purpose for us. Or maybe we were enticed by the discount on the product, or we just gave ourselves a reason like "one day we might need it."
Every time we spend money on things we don't need, we reduce the money we have for things we do need, like buying food, paying rent, and utilities.
The painful part is, after a few months, we might see that item we bought just sitting there gathering dust at home, unused, or we get tired of looking at it.
I've been guilty of this kind of behavior too, buying things I don't need in life. But I've avoided it now because I noticed I had accumulated quite a lot of them. Hahaha!
If they could talk, they would probably ask you why you bought them if you were just going to let them gather dust in a corner of your house and get covered in cobwebs.
So that's my first tip on how to become a smart online shopper. It's amusing to browse products on online shopping platforms, and it's easy to be convinced to buy, especially when you see a discount tag.
But before you forget yourself, remind and ask yourself first if you really need it.
