I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.
This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Lost Magic and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇
My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

Units with Immunity are not poisoned. This is a one-time application - units that are Cleansed, Resurrected or Rebirthed will not be re-applied with poison. Enrage is triggered by Poison application. |
I like the Noxious Fumes ruleset a lot, because it means that all the monsters will be Poisoned from the start of the batttle, so they will take 2 damage at the end of every round.
This allows the use some new strategies when I setup my lineup and many times I just needed to waited out for the Poison to kill all the monsters on the battlefield and what I only need is to have at least one monster who will suervive longer than my opponent monsters. 😁
Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Noxious Fumes | All Monsters start the battle Poisoned. |
Fog of War | Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities. |
FiveAlive | Up to Five Unites may be used in the battle. |
The mana cap was 19, which is super low and it is much more important to come up with a winning strategy for this battle. Usually I pick a lot of small mana cost monsters in order to soak up and block more attacks from the enemy monsters, but this time it doesn't really works (at least for me), because the Noxious Fumes will kill the cheap and small Health monsters quickly. 😜
The Fog of War ruleset will help a bit to direct the attacks from both teams into our tanks, because the Sneak and Snipe abilities won't work, so they can not attack behind each others backline. 🤗
The FiveAlive ruleset is one of the new one and only allows the use of five monsters per lineup, but luckily in this battle doesn't really makes a huge difference, because the mana cap is very low anyway, so it is harder to fill up our lineups. 😊
Lux Vega
Lux Vega is one of the best Summoner in the game, because she gives three stats to all of his monsters, which is plus one Speed, Armor and Life. Similar to Kelya, but she gives more stats with one Health for an extra mana cost.
Her true power is that she is a Neutral Summoner the one and only one, so it is possible to use her with any Splinter monsters she wants except the Dragons. This is such a huge deal that makes her one of the most expensive Summoner amongst the rest of the others. 😁
Sea Wreck
The Sea Wreck is a very strong monster and such his mana cost is quite high, which is eleven. He has quite a lot of abilities, but will see if that would be enough to survive the battle against a horde off enemies.
He has two reflect abilities, which is the Magic Reflect and Return Fire, which will reflect all the Ranged and Magic attacks back to his attackers and on top of that that damage (which is usually 1 or 2) will be increased by his Amplify ability. 😁
He also has the Bloodlust ability, which is one of the strongest in the game and usually only the Gladiator cards has it and essentialy that means if this monsters acquires a kill he will increase all of his own stats by one. If he manages to use his reflect abilities to kill that counts as well. 💪
These abilities and his high stats makes him quite resilient against enemy attacks, but the most important one is his Heal ability, which will makes him practically invincible, because he will be able to restore some of his lost Health in every round. 🤗
Angelic Mandarin
I used the Angelic Mandarin for a bit of extra damage throughout the battle and to Silence all the Magic attack monsters, which means that he will decrease their Magic attack by one as long as he is alive.
He also has the Triage ability, which is a Heal ability, but only works on my backline monsters, so at least he will manage to keep himself alive against the Noxious Fumes ruleset. 😇
Torrent Fiend
The Torrent Fiend is pretty useless in this battle, because no one can target him as long as my tank is alive, so he would die quickly against the Poison damage. Still I had to use him to increase the SPS reward from the battle a little bit, because the more cards you use the more SPS you get at the end of the battle. 🤑
My opponent brought Kelya Frendul, because he wanted to take advantage of his Speed buff and the plus one Armor to block an incoming Melee or Ranged attack completely. 😆
The battle will be interesting, because my opponent also brough a self healer tank and few other interesting monsters, which could easily wreck my tank. 😣
My Sea Wreck is the lowest monster out of all the monsters on the battlefield and if the my opponent Doctor Blight manages to trigger his Affliction ability on him he can not heal himself anymore.
In the first round all of their backlien monsters took some damage against his reflect abilities and luckily his Doctor Blight didn't activated his Affliction ability on him. 😅
Luckily at the end of the first round the Poison damage killed their Doctor Blight, becase the Magic Reflect ability damaged him already.
In the second round my Angelic Mandarin killed their Xenith Monk and only two Ranged attack monster left in their team and my Sea Wreck healed himself up to maximum Health.
Those two monster didn't have a chance against my beast, but this battle would easily turn out differently if their Doctor Blight would switch off the Heal ability on my Sea Wreck. (50% means a lot sometimes) 😇
