Splinterlands is about a lot of things that relate to our behavior and attitude, sometimes we get excited, sometimes we feel angry, sometimes we feel satisfied, or another feeling that we get from the game that triggers a sentimental rush in our minds.
There are many moments in the game that we memorize forever, we live with them whenever we play Splinterlands, and share them with our friends, guild members, or even family.
Today, we'll relive some of the moments and cherish them to see how excited we can be when winning a neck-to-neck battle.
Thrilling Battle Moments
When you are matched with teams that are higher than your cards, you feel a bit frustrated and get angry about the Splinterlands match-making mechanism. I have those moments almost every day when my level 2 deck is matched with a level 4 team and it reduces my winning chances.
But, there is a wonderful phenomenon called Probability, this works like a charm when you can't think of a win and something magical happens that releases your anxiety and puts a smile on your face.
Now, watch the video and observe 2 amazing ranked battles first. Next, I'll tell you how probability snatches the victory from my opponent and throws it in my lap.
Battle 1
This battle is fought between Dragon and Water units, and both teams are almost equal in damage and armor ratings.
Both teams have 1 legendary unit as a tank with nice good armor and attack. Kelya Frendul provides my opponent's team with +1 armor and +1 speed, but I have put Creeping Ooze to negate the speed, now they don't have any advantage of Speed over my team.
Melee Mayhem (melee units can attack from any position) and Odd Ones Out (Only odd mana units can be used) are the ruleset in this battle. Looking at the Melee Mayhem, I already used Camilla Sungazer to reduce melee attacks of enemy units, this is a big disadvantage for my opponent as total melee damage is decreased.
The situation looks very concerning in the 4th round as Robo-Dragon Knight and Sea Wreck both have the same health points. But, Rono-Dragon has a speed advantage, so if he succeeds in evading even 1 attack it good be a nice game-changer.
Round 5 ends and the position looks much better as Robo-Dragon evades 1 attack, this was the moment I was waiting for to happen. Now, Robo-Dragon can safely kill Sea Wreck as it has enough health points to survive because Hardy Stonefish can deal only 1 damage.
Robo-Dragon did not take any damage in the 7th round, again the probability of evasion worked and saved him 1 health point. It is now easy for Robo-Dragon to make my team victorious without the loss of any other unit in the battle.
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Always think ahead of your opponent.
- Watch his previous battles and use a strategy accordingly.
- Speed is your friend and it creates a high probability to win a battle if the opponent is using melee and ranged units.
- Use armored units to increase the chances of survival in a battle.
Battle 2: Earth vs. Earth
This battle is a super epic battle, there were moments when my heartbeat increased as I thought that I would lose the battle.
Four of the 6 units in the battle are the same in both teams, I put Quora Towershead and Flesh Golem in my team whereas my opponent has added Pelacor Mercenary and Venari Knifer, all other cards are the same.
Both rulesets are very punishing and make each team very powerful because Opportunity provides with stealth attack to any unit with the lowest health and What Doesn't Kill You boosts the Speed and Melee attack of a unit that is not at its full health.
All units first attacked Martyr units and units adjacent to Martyr units gained some additional stats. Monsters with the highest speed attacked units with the lowest health. My Grund lost a lot of health after attacking Venari Knifer and became the unit with the lowest health, he was killed by Nectar Queen.
As you see in the video, Round 1 was pretty fatal to my units as half of the units were gone from my team. This situation made me sure of losing the battle and I was pretty nervous to lose another epic battle.
But, when round 2 started, my team destroyed 2 more enemy units and both teams became somewhat leveled in the end. If Quora remains enraged she can easily kill Nectar Queen.
Things did not work in Round 3, as Nectar Queen evaded 2 consecutive attacks because of her Flying ability. Now, I see myself in big trouble as Quora is sitting at 2 health points and can easily be killed by Grund.
Quora was able to gain stats after dispatching Nectar Queen, but she could not survive Grund's hammering. It is a now-or-never situation for my Nectar Queen, because if she misses her only hit in Round 4, then there is a high probability that Grund would kill her too.
Despite Grund's higher Speed rating, Nectar Queen somehow manages to deliver her stinger into Grund's face and makes him dizzy for a while, but eventually, the toxins are so powerful and kill him slowly.
This battle was quite thrilling because every moment felt like a heavy blow to my heart. There were moments when I had no hope of winning, but then the king of probability changed things and my opponent lost the battle. Credit goes to Speed.
Things to Keep in Mind:
- Use a monster with Heal, as it recovers 3 health normally in each round.
- If you're using Bloodlust units, try to give them a boost with Martyr monsters, as when they die, they add +1 to all stats.
- Double Strike units with melee attacks can become useless when fighting against units with Thorns, use units with Reflection Shield instead.
- Again, I remind you to use monsters with higher Speed ratings to gain a nice advantage on initiative and evasion.
These are the most thrilling moments I have had recently in Splinterlands when I really thought of losing the battle but then the opposite happened and luckily I won those battles. Such, incidents occur when you and your opponent both focus on Speed and dodge melee and ranged attacks.
I was so excited to see the loss turn into victory and it made me quite happy as I improved my battle ranking and received some rewards. If you have enjoyed the battle, do let me know about your feedback in the comments section.
