My dreams - creative Nonfiction in The Well Prompt # 21

in #hive-1707982 years ago

In my life I have had longings, many times I have daydreamed. Sometimes I have been able to achieve my goals, other times I have only had to daydream.

I was a 16 year old girl, our house was distributed in 3 rooms, a living room, a kitchen, the bathroom and the patio, the first room was mine had my single beda bedside table, my fan and my closet, all in the Louis XV style; My father used to say "this is the room that has a window, so it belongs to the female, so that at night her suitor will bring her mariachis and serenades", the second room was my three brothers' room, the space was bigger than mine so there were three little beds and a closet and the third room was my parents' room, it also had a big space.

In the month of July, my father was paid his vacation money, with which he built a bathroom in my brothers' room. However, one day he came to me and asked "daughter, would you like me to build you a bathroom inside your room? I answered "no dad, I dream of you buying me a window air conditioner and a door for my room", when I said these words to my father I imagined myself, living in the North Pole, enjoying a little cold, my father just kept quiet, I understood that he had no economic budget to cover those expenses.

When I graduated from high school, the chappy motorcycles were very fashionable, I just fantasized to see me riding my bike with my green contact lenses, doing the shopping that my mother sent me to do for the house and go to my college classes, my father told me "you want me to give you a trip to Margarita Island, you go with your cousin Antonieta, you get to the house of your aunt Elizabeth, so you know new horizons".
I answered "daddy, no, you can't give me what I want".
Dad said "but tell me daughter, what do you want?
I answered "I have been longing for a chappy pink motorcycle to run errands at home and to go to college when I start classes, and I would like to wear green contact lenses, I really like that color for my eyes".

My astonished father says to me "daughter you are right, I can't buy you the bike. There is something I don't understand, as you want to wear contact lenses, I advise you not to do it because in the long run it will damage your eyesight, you have a beautiful eye color, don't make that mistake".

I had no choice but to be an obedient daughter, my wishes would remain mere dreams. When I came of age, I worked as a secretary in the mornings and studied at the university in the afternoons. Sometimes, when I was alone in the office, more than once I found myself in the clouds, instead of working on filing lease documents, I would daydream, "I save a lot of money, buy a lot of land, and build the house of my dreams, with glass walls, these must have aluminized curtains, so that sometimes the sun does not enter; The divisions should be made of reinforced concrete; it should be distributed in three bedrooms, a dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a beautiful garden with red and white roses combined with sunflowers, a small patio, just thinking up that project made me feel that I was growing as a person". Years later I was able to buy my land, it is still unbuilt.

Today I dream of seeing my grandson Simón Antonio become a man with manners and good manners, being an excellent student. My daughter Rut, graduating from high school, then becoming a pediatrician, working in her office, me being her secretary and her father the maintenance man, to help her grow as a person, to see her married in church with a man of God, that her father and I take her to the altar and enjoy our grandchildren.

This is interesting and I like how you transitioned the story from your childhood dreams to the dreams you now have as a Mum and Grandmum.

You desire to get a green contact lens and your Dad's reply to it must have played out as an interesting dialogue. I'm trying to imagine how the whole thing happened. Haha.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

I've learnt something from your story. You asked your dad to get you green contact lenses and he told you the remote consequence without getting you offended. Sometimes, children in their innocence ask for something that's so harmful.
Your story's quite interesting.

You dream that your child and grandchild become the best version of themselves, and that's beautiful.. I pray your dreams come true.

This is very interesting. You took us round your dreams from childhood to adulthood. Very beautiful, well done🤗🤗.

It was nice to walk through these various phases of your life with you, and hear how your dreams changed at each stage. It would have been wonderful to see this developed using creative elements however, as well as given an edit. Your father presented many stunning lessons to you, and your childhood memories are vibrant... yet, what did these experiences instill in you in modern times?

Thank you for sharing your story with us, and for your engagement with other members of the community.

Thank you for your suggestions, I just edited the text, it was a mistake I made.
