ABOUT THE MOVIE

LIKE STARS ON EARTH is a Bollywood movie that tells the story of an eight year old boy, Ishan whose world is filled with wonder that no one else seems to appreciate.

Ishaan, a kind of student who suffers from dyslexia, a condition that makes it hard to read or write, struggles to get anything right at school. His elder brother, however, was doing excellently in his academics. Meanwhile, Ishaan kept getting into problems and when his parents couldn’t handle him anymore, they sent him away to a boarding school.

At the boarding school, a new art teacher, Ram, takes an interest in Ishan and discovering that the youbg boy was suffering from reading dysfunction, takes it upon himself to help him study, develop his talent and ultimately live a full life.

MY THOUGHTS

LIKE STARS ON EARTH is a movie every parent, intending parents and most importantly, teachers should watch,
Prior to watching this movie years ago,I never knew there was a condition called "dyslexia."

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability in reading. Kids with dyslexia have trouble reading accurately and fluently. They may also have trouble with comprehension, spelling, and writing.
Raising a child with that condition is a journey.

It makes me wonder back to my much younger days. The time when we had that primary or secondary schoolmate that no matter how you teach them, they never seemed to grasp. Out of ignorance on our parts, we mocked and referred to them as dummies.
It makes me wonder, what if some of those people actually had this condition? What if!?

I remember the first time I saw this movie, it was an eye-opener for me. It brought tears to my eyes. It schooled me. I consider this movie to be a very sensitive one, and although i have rewatched it several times, it still had the same effect on me. For every time i rewatched it, i lestmed something new that i hadn't had previously.

As a child educator, this movie spoke to me. It evoked the feelings of patience, kindness, and intentionality. I've had to tutor kids with different learning abilities, and with a few of them, it was a hassle, so much that it almost was frustrating. I know I never give up nor stop having faith in those kids, but watching this movie, I felt more passionate than ever. More inspired.

And you know what? Aamir Khan is the best! I love how he analyzes relatable issues and provide solution to them. Highly philosophical individual with stellar delivery skills.

Also, the fact that this movie managed to find a balance between humor and emotions makes it very fabulous.

As an educator, I usually make reference to this movie when I talk to parents, co-educators, or even during discussions with my learners. No child should be written off. No child!
Every child is special, and every child knows something and has a little idea of anything. They just need the proper guidance, time, patience, and encouragement to be the best version of themselves. Remember, every child is special.

This movie, Like Stars on Earth, is a masterpiece.
It’s a great one and I recommend it for parents, teachers and students. In fact, for everyone!
You definitely should see it.
It's a 5 star piece.
