Upon reaching the entrance of Iwatayama Monkey Park, we were greeted by the sight of Japanese macaques leisurely lounging and frolicking amidst the green surroundings. These intelligent creatures immediately captured our hearts with their expressive faces and playful antics.

Ascending to the observation deck, is a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, offering a breathtaking vista of Kyoto city and the tranquil Katsura River below. Here, visitors can observe the monkeys in their element, grooming one another, and engaging in social interactions that mirror human behavior in remarkable ways.

Tenryu-ji Temple

This is the entrance to the temple recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage It is a Zen Buddhist temple with a rich history dating back to the 14th century.

The Beauty of Kyoto’s Kimono Forest

The Kimono Forest is a public art installation that features hundreds of illuminated cylindrical pillars beautifully decorated with kimono fabric or “yuzen”, which are traditional Japanese garments

These pillars are set up along a walking path creating a mesmerizing display of colors and patterns as sunlight filters through the translucent fabric panels, We were awed by the symphony of colors and patterns that danced gracefully in the breeze.

The Hozugawa River Boat Ride

Visitors can take a traditional boat ride along the Hozugawa River in this area. The boat ride would likely be a relaxing way to appreciate the natural landscapes of Arashiyama.

One of the most iconic features of Nara Park is its resident deer population. As we entered the park, we were greeted by these gentle creatures, regarded as divine messengers in Shinto beliefs.

The deers are so friendly and roam freely with the visitors in the park.

Look, they couldn’t wait for us to feed them. It was an enjoyable experience interacting and feeding them with the specially made crackers known as “shika senbei” in a picturesque setting.

The rickshaw ride

Japanese vehicles pulled by a human runner, offer a unique and charming way to explore the park's scenic beauty and historical sites. Rickshaw operators are stationed at various points within or near Nara Park, ready to provide guided tours around the area.

This is the conclusion of our visit to Kyoto. As we bid farewell we carry with us not only photographs and souvenirs but also a newfound appreciation for its rich history, culture, and scenic nature.

What a nice park, so plenty to see and experience..the Kimono forest is something to look into, very interesting.
