in #splinterlands2 days ago

Hi all,

Introduction

Another post in this series. Thank you for your support in the previous posts 😊

This series intends to determine if there are other aspects of cards that may contribute to increasing its value. Based on your feedback I can focus on more/other things – so feel free to tell me where you want me to go into further detail.
I include some analysis on where the cards fit in terms of strategy and a market analysis of the price of the card. Feel free to suggest what more do you want me to look into in this series, and your support is much appreciated!
In this edition I will be looking at the Halfling Refugee.

Gameplay Analysis

The Halfling Refugee is a Common Earth monster card with stats and abilities designed to shine in low-mana battles. Here are its key features:

Mana Cost: 3
Attack Type: Melee
Health: 3 (Level 1) to 7 (Max Level)
Speed: 3 (Level 1) to 5 (Max Level)
Melee Attack: 1 (Level 1) to 3 (Max Level)
Abilities:
Halving (Level 6): Reduces the attack of any target it hits by 50%.

The Halfling Refugee is a fantastic choice in low-mana battles and shines in rulesets that amplify melee damage or benefit from speed. Its low mana cost makes it accessible for most decks, and its Halving ability at higher levels is a game-changer against high-damage attackers.

Synergies

The Halfling Refugee pairs exceptionally well with cards and strategies that:

Boost Melee Damage: Summoners like Tarsa or abilities like Inspire significantly increase its effectiveness.
Enhance Speed: Cards with Swiftness or summoners like Kelya Frendul help the Refugee hit first, reducing incoming damage.
Sustain Damage: Cards with Heal or Protect can improve its survivability, especially when placed in the frontline in Equal Opportunity rulesets.

Ruleset Performance

Here’s how the Halfling Refugee performs in specific battle rulesets:

Super Sneak: It can deliver consistent melee damage from any position and weaken strong backline attackers.
Equal Opportunity: Its low mana cost makes it an excellent addition to ensure balanced damage output.
Reverse Speed: At lower levels, its slower speed can be an advantage in this ruleset.
Weak Magic: It thrives in this ruleset, where magic damage is absorbed by shields, giving melee cards like this an edge.

Market Analysis

Let’s take a look at how the Halfling Refugee performs in the Splinterlands marketplace:

Regular Foil: Priced around $0.03-$0.05 per BCX recently, making it a budget-friendly option for new players.
Gold Foil: Typically ranges between $0.50-$0.70, offering a low-cost way to boost collection power.

Given its utility in various rulesets and its role in countering heavy hitters at higher levels, the Halfling Refugee offers excellent value for its price. Its low cost makes it accessible to most players, while its abilities at higher levels give it long-term strategic value.

Conclusion

The Halfling Refugee may look unassuming, but its Halving ability and low mana cost make it a valuable addition to any Earth lineup. Its flexibility ensures it fits into a wide range of battles, and its affordability makes it an excellent investment for players at all levels.
