Fall is one of the best times for seasonal coffee flavors. Think of pumpkin, spiced chai, apple cider and even maple. Technically, while we don’t have four seasons in South East Asia, corporations like to follow seasonal flavors. During summer we have fizzy coffee with fruity flavors, during spring we have rose flavors, and winter with its peppermint and chocolate dominated flavors. Since now it’s around fall, coffee chains begin to roll out their fall inspired drinks. I tried everything from Starbucks before but since they are far away, the closest chain I could get to taste seasonal coffee's flavors is from Janji Jiwa.
Janji Jiwa was considered a low tier coffee chain in the past but if I am being honest, since the rebrand, they have upgraded their taste and service. I am not sure if bigger cities taste awful due to their massive order but so far over here they taste just fine, just like flavored milk coffee and something you would expect from other chains like Starbucks and the likes.
Anyway, I noticed that they started rolling out the fall menu and unlike Starbucks and other chains that tend to focus on pumpkin, janji jiwa uses maple in their fall menu. They roll out a Golden Latte Mapple recipe with AI collaboration (Gemini)by google.
This mapple coffee tastes just like a mixture of milk with mapple, if you’re someone who enjoys drinking a strong coffee with a strong aftertaste, you might need to add a few more shots to even out all the syrup in this cup. But for those who enjoy a weak taste of coffee, this should be pretty delicious because it has that sweet and a hint of comforting nutty aftertaste.
The best way to combine this coffee is with any savory toast. I got the chicken cheese toast that pairs really well with the mapple coffee. It's the best of both worlds. Their toast isn’t that soggy unlike cheaper ones around town. It has the perfect amount of sauce without it being too overpowering. I don’t like soggy toast that has too much butter/margarine on it. So, this was just done right for me and the best way to start the day as well.
One thing that I found out is how this particular coffee recipe was also done with the help of Gemini AI and that just show me, AI is going even more mainstream and corporations use them even more. I will be expecting more chains to use AI in their recipe to speed up the process because usually it will take quite some time for them to craft flavors and find unique flavors/variations that haven't been done before. It could be one of those trends that corporations use but honestly, AI is here to stay and even these days, coffee recipes are crafted by AI, maybe just in time it will be made by AI too and we’ll have robot baristas around.
If you’re in for seasonal coffee flavors, I’d definitely recommend trying anything mapple just so you could taste anything other than pumpkin flavored that are offered at Starbucks this time around.
