The Man On the Hill

The man on the hill, he stands so tall,
Surveying the land, watching it all.
His eyes sweep the horizon wide,
As the world below moves with the tide.

He's seen the seasons come and go,
As the land below changes, ebb and flow.
He's watched the trees grow tall and strong,
And heard the birds sing their joyful song.

Through sun and rain, he's never left,
Perched atop his hill with quiet heft.
Watching the world, as it moves and turns,
As the fire of life within it burns.

Perhaps he's wise, perhaps he's old,
Perhaps he's just someone, brave and bold.
But one thing's certain, he's seen it all,
The man on the hill, standing so tall.

Of all the poems list for Poet of the Week, this is the poem I choose. When I was reading it, it made me think of the end of the movie "I Robot". Of course, it doesn't all apply, but that's what came to my mind.

Much is expected of the man stands tall on the hill, to be wise, to compromise, to help, to lead and so on.

The man on the hill is perhaps all of these things and at the same time none of them. Which will the man on the hill choose to be?

Thank you for the wonderful poem.

That's an inspiring and wonderful comment. Thank you so much! 😁

Looking down from above allows you to broaden the spectrum of reflection, you can see more or at least we have the image of someone who gets more knowledge of what is happening in their surroundings or in the world, the poem is a good metaphor. Greetings

Indeed, the view makes it easier to see the bigger picture. Thank you for your outstanding analysis sir. 🙂

What a poignant poem about the man on the hill who watches 'everything'.

He seems a peaceful and contemplative person and I wonder, if he ever gets bored, will he be an active participant in the life below or keep watching? 😁 Lovely. !PIZZA

Hi @kemmyb, all I can say is only the man on the hill himself knows. 😆
Thanks for dropping by. :)

Standing tall amidst the difficult circumstances surrounding us is something we should learn, like the man on the hills, focused even under the sun or rain.

Thanks for sharing.

Great observation 😄, like the man on the hill indeed.
Thanks for dropping by. :)

I love this poem. Is like I can see that man, or be that man. I think that is a wise man, a patient man that enjoy the little things of life.

Thank you for the nice comment 😊

Overcoming tribulations can be challenging but the strength to stand tall through it all makes it worth all the trouble

Definitely, its because of those struggles why we are stronger. Thanks for the nice comment @rukkie. :)
