I'm sure, very few of you watch the German Bundesliga. And a big chunk of that portion is a fan of the famous Bavarian club, Bayern Munich. Also there are Borussia Dortmund fans too. And another portion is the average football enjoyer. Who claims to watch every league staying unbiased towards any club and enjoys the beautiful game from a neutral perspective. It's all alright, all game. But one thing is for certain that every single one of you might agree that the Bundesliga is a "farmers league". 18 teams compete for the Meisterschale and in the the end, Bayern Munich wins. Yes many teams give them a competition, sometimes it's Hertha, sometimes is Leipzig and sometimes it's Dortmund. But Bayern takes it anyway. Have you ever asked yourself, hoe did the Bundesliga reach this phase? Why is it so one sided? Well, the answer might contain some insecurities by a club. Which is not a bad thing to some extent.
So Bundesliga was perfectly boring all through its lifetime with Bayern winning the majority of the trophies and especially after the second world war. But it has been more one sided than ever now. And there is a reason to it too. If you search for a man to blame for this scenario, it would be Jurgen Klopp. And his time at Dortmund. You see, the 2010-2013 or times around that period have been meteoric for Dortmund. Bayern were enjoying a front row seat in the Bundesliga all alone, but then this Klopp guy jumped in with a bunch of nobodies. That Dortmund back then was indeed a team of kids. Kids who are mature now, won many different trophies across the years. Klopp's new style of football caught Bayern napping. They won the Meisterschale twice in that period. And also won a DFB Pokal. And the score of the DFB Pokal final was 5-2 to Dortmund. Very convincing win. Against Bayern.
These few years took away all the peace in the world that Bayern had. And even off the pitch Bayern were losing to Dortmund. Bayern were losing market share in the world. Dortmund was suddenly the team everyone liked. I'm sure for many of you the roots of supporting Borussia Dortmund are right here. And rightly so. Bayern were looking for that one little glimpse of light in a world of darkness. Suddenly Bayern weren't the dominant force of Germany. And this was completely against Bayern's business model. Who's aim was to make Bayern Germany's undisputed number one. That goal seemed endangered. Came the 2013 champions league final. That glimpse of light arrived. Bayern beat Dortmund in an all German champions league final. The Der Klassiker on Europe's biggest stage. That was their break. Since then Bayern have doubled down in the race to dominance. They hired Pep Guardiola as a consequence. And Bayern spend ever more on players than before. And also, they bought off Dortmund and effectively killed the competition. Lewandowski, Gotze, Hummels, these players were signed from Dortmund to Bayern. And it was more about they're not in Dortmund than they're in Bayern situation.
And about Dortmund. That team 10 years ago was very energetic and youthful. But the champions league is always about experience. You can't win everything with kids. Since the. Dortmund has always played second fiddle to Bayern. And David did beat Goliath that time, but David remained David. And just like David, we all love Dortmund too.
