Throwback Thursday: 103 years and a tango/103 años y un tango [Eng-Esp]

in #hive-18623922 hours ago

Hello, community. I begin this, my first post #tbt, with the wish that it is a beautiful Thursday for all of us, the nostalgic.

Today I want to talk to you about my grandfather. In three days, it will be a year since he is no longer with us, so in these days it has been inevitable to go back in time and reminisce about moments and anecdotes together with him.

My grandfather's life was a tango: passionate and intense, similar to those old songs he liked to sing while enjoying his rum or whisky. He was truly blessed with longevity and love.

I remember that in 1999 he asked to gather the whole family to celebrate his birthday because that year he believed he was going to die. My grandfather was many things but never a good prophet. He miscalculated on that occasion even though he was a genius in mathematical calculations. I remember he could effortlessly calculate complex calculations or the weight of an object with just a glance, and the result was always accurate.

On January 12th he left us, with 103 years of life, he passed away peacefully and without pain, worn out by time and his hard work, not from the cancer that plagued him.

My grandfather laughed at time. He built relationships, had 8 children, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a varied and united family in love and him as the patriarchal center of all.

My best memory with him is of his last birthday. One moment was very special as I serenaded him and we sang his tangos together. Even at 103 years old, his mind and voice seemed dreamy. It was a very long tango, a tremendous man.

Hola , comunidad.
