Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about the cardboard and paper mache masks colored using acrylic paint. I started making them in 2017 to use while I sing my songs, the first one I made was this one in the shape of a cardinal bird, it's quite narrow. I used it to go to an art show and when I took it off I was left with quite a bit of vertigo and a headache because the holes of the mask´s eyes were too small.
The second was this pink crocodile, I made it with plastic tape and cardboard, it is one of my favorites, so much so that I wrote a monologue to interpret it using it, you can see it on my youtube channel through the link below
In later years I decided to venture into the elaboration of more aerodynamic masks that would allow me more freedom to move on stage using them, that is how this one came about in the shape of a Capibara for which I also wrote a monologue and even a song that I attach here.
This second green crocodile mask is one of the most impressive that I have done but it made it quite difficult to sing and speak, because it stopped the projection of the sound
And not to mention this sloth mask that wouldn't even let me breathe. That is why I decided to donate it to a gallery in the city of Mérida called “Espacio Proyecto Libertad” so that they could exhibit it.
In this Yare Devil mask, which is typical of Venezuelan folk traditions, I tried to leave my original touch using colors in a strident way as is typical of my comics and paintings
And this one in the form of a unicorn is one of my favorites, but unfortunately it has broken and that is why I have not used it again. I created it for the music video of my song Pegaso Marino Unicorn, which I leave you below
One of my favorite and most recent masks is this one from Alien, but again it is quite difficult to use it for performance purposes and I ended up using it only for photo shoots and for a music video that I leave below.
I made this Oilbird Mask for a video art with which I won a contest, I attach the video below along with the photos
I made this Goat Mask because this is the most typical animal in the city where I live. I also used it for a music video in which I talk about the goats while I walk the streets of Carora and invite many people to use the mask for the video
This Mask is the one I made to sing the song of the Macaws, which are very representative animals of the capital of my country Caracas
This Frontino Bear Mask is one of the largest and I made it to promote myself in a contest to paint a giant ceramic bear for the German embassy in Venezuela. Thanks to this Mask I won.
To say goodbye I want to show you the most recent of my masks, which is from Tuqueque. I made it to use it when I play my famous tuqueque song, the one I sang to you a few weeks ago. I hope you like my masks, I want to make more soon but I hardly have room at home for so many. A hug
