Someone the other day implied that I was close-minded and a sheep because I didn't believe that Putin has honorable intentions with the invasion of Ukraine and I am triple-vaccinated.
It made me realize that we all have our idea bubbles, plus not believing one thing doesn't mean you are closed off to other things, so I wanted to gauge the community here about one of the areas where I have been called a crackpot conspiracy theorist :)
Where do you stand on the aliens and UFO topic?
Since I was a kid I have been fascinated with the idea of UFOs, not just because I was brought up on a steady diet of Science Fiction (Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Space 1999, Blake's 7, Hitchhiker's Guide, etc) but also because the more I learned about the vastness of space, the more I couldn't conceive of their NOT being life "out there".
You would think being also raised Catholic would run counter to this, but quite the opposite. In fact, the Catholic Church has come out as very open to the idea, to the point Pope Francis said he would baptize Martians.
YouTube is a wonderful source of confirmation bias and entertainment, and I love to watch the videos about all of this stuff, no matter how "out there".
A lot is obviously clickbait or worse, but some ... Some things really do make me sit up and take notice:
How far is the Rabbit Hole?
Does that mean I think the Queen of England is a shape-shifting lizard person ala the V television series from the 80s? Not quite, though I do dislike the idea of royalty for other reasons!
I am also not of the belief that ALL UAP sightings are little green (or grey) men.
Aviation journalist Jim Goodall has written 20 books on a plethora of top-secret craft, such as the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 stealth attack aircraft and the B-2A stealth bomber.
we have things out in the desert that are 50 years beyond what you can comprehend. Not what you think we can make in 50 years but what you can comprehend. And if you’ve seen movies like Star Trek and Star Wars, we’ve been there, done that or decided it wasn’t worth the effort.

Some could even be projections intended to throw off our systems, to give the illusion of something otherworldly or simply put us off our game.
That said, highly credible, highly trained radar operators have multiple, confirmed sightings of something encroaching on secure facilities, shipping, and even nuclear installations ...
USS Princeton Petty Officer Gary Voorhis checked the radar system for false returns. It was recalibrated and no problems were detected. Voorhis also physically confirmed the objects were where the sensors were telling them they were. After taking a relative bearing of the objects seen on screen, he also scanned the sky through a pair of powerful binoculars. He saw something there, luminescing and hovering in the distance. ‘I couldn’t make out any detail at all. They were hovering there, then in an instant, they’d dart off to another direction and stop again,’
If they are not friendly, and they are not alien, then our western intelligence services have woefully underestimated the technological progress of other countries. With Russia doing so badly in Ukraine, you would wonder why they don't pull out these capabilities, though ...
War of the Worlds?
One of the things that makes me feel safer about the subject of alien invasion is the fact their technological prowess means if they wanted us dead or enslaved, it would have already happened.
That's not to say they aren't influencing us, or covertly hostile, just I don't see them blowing up the Whitehouse or Buck Palace any time soon!
