My relationships, sincerely they are what shaped me to who I am today. Taking about my lover, my closest friend, and my family, they’ve all left me with good, valuable lessons that I now carry with me today, and for that, I am grateful. Join me as we go on a journey where I tell you about each of these relationships and the lessons learnt.
Lets start with my lover, I know and agree that no one is perfect, but truthfully speaking, she feels like the best thing that ever happened to me. From the moment we met, I knew this was different. There’s the ease, the peace and this special comfort when I’m around her. She's always stranding by me, encouraging me and I know I can always count on her. Sincerely, we've had our ups and downs just like everyone else, but despite all, she still portrays what love is to me, that its beyond just words. She shows whaat unconditional love really means. She's always there for me, she shows up, she taught me that communication, honesty, respect, and patience are the cornerstones of any solid relationship. It was through her I learnt that love isn’t just about the good times, it’s about sticking together even in the difficult ones too.
Now, there’s my friend, who happens to be my lover’s sister. Its funny how life works out like that, right?. She’s been my closest friend for years, and we’ve been through everything together. I remember when we stay up late at night, talking about life, our dreams, and just sharing everything that was on our hearts. Her family and mine were always close, but she was like the sister I never had. Even though she’s my lover’s sister, we’re still as close as ever. She's got my back, and I've got hers too, and our bond has only gotten stronger over the years. She showed me what true friendship really is, always having someone who will always stand by your side, no matter what. She’s the person I know I can rely on when the world feels heavy, we pray, we discuss, we assure each other. And through her also, I learnt that real friends are the ones who see you for who you truly are and still choose to stick/ be around you. Not just when its convenient, but when it counts.
And then, my family. Am not sure if words would be enough to comprehend the loving, caring people that they are. And there's no other people who have shown me what it means to truly care for someone. I’ve always known they loved me, but it wasn’t until I got sick that I truly understood what being there for someone really meant. There was a time when I was bedridden, feeling completely useless. But my family, they were there every single moment of the day. My mom, dad, and siblings, they all took turns looking after me, making sure I was comfortable and being there to talk when I needed company, while assuring me. One thing is, they never made me feel like a burden. I can't appreciate that less. Though I have some families and friends who never showed up too. And through that also, I learnt that family isn’t just about blood, they are the people who show up for you when you need them most. The sacrifices they make without expecting anything in return. I learnt the real meaning of love and being there to support someone from them. They showed me that family is about standing together, no matter what happens/the situation.
From all of those experiences with my relationships, I gathered some lessons, one that, love is more than just words, another is that loyalty and trust are the foundation of any solid relationship either romantic or not, I also learned that love is in the little things. These lessons have helped shaped how I approach relationships. I don't just realize but know that no matter what happens, I always have people who love me, support me, and will be there for me.
My lover and my friend being siblings sounds funny right... well they've taught me different sides of the same lesson, what it means to love and be loved and my family has shown me how deep that love can really go.
In short, I learnt that love is the key, in whatever type of relationship, romantic, familial or any, love definitely makes it strong and lasting. So when you treat people with love, loyalty and support they deserve, you build a foundation, a force, a wall that can stand anything life throws your way.
