Alicia has been through so many things lately that she doesn't even believe them herself. They have all happened one after another and many times there is no time to even assimilate it. You see, Alicia had always been one of those people who throw themselves into what they are passionate about, sometimes without thinking too much about the path. The first of the bad things that happened to her and perhaps the worst is that she had been part of a band that ended up falling apart in the worst way possible, leaving each one to their own fate. Alicia was not to blame for anything that happened, but the bad reputation of her companions crept into the ears of those who were looking for a talent, and soon she became the wrong image of what a good proposal in music should be.
In reality, what happened was that the other members never took the group seriously. They took drugs and alcohol all the time. The result was terrible concerts and disastrous performances. Each of the members was a disgusting person, they did everything wrong. But Alicia was and is always the exception within this group. Even though they did all those things, she never did them. She always kept herself clean in every sense, morally and ethically. Nothing to say about her colleagues who were the opposite. Well, this is why her band broke up because it simply wasn't sustainable and ended. After breaking up, she was forced to work as a guitarist on her own for several months.
She played in small venues, at social gatherings or the occasional party. During that period, while she tried to slowly rebuild what she had lost, her reputation of course. The guitar became her companion. There were days when she no longer wanted to play, she simply wanted to get away from it all. The bad reputation of her group did not leave her in peace and it was increasingly difficult for her to get work. And she never imagined that a band would hire her because everyone thought she was just like everyone else, so they preferred not to risk hiring her as their guitarist.
One day, fate, or what seemed to be just a coincidence, brought her to an unpretentious meeting. An acquaintance had mentioned a group of musicians who met in a casual venue, a place where people got together without the pressure of having to sound perfect, but to enjoy the shared experience. Alicia decided to go, without great expectations, just for the pleasure of seeing if the atmosphere was different from the one that had marked her past. And at that meeting, almost unnoticed, she realized that the people there did not seem interested in remembering old stories or judging those who came from complicated paths.
Well, it turns out that there were musicians of all ages. They had a club and everything. There were retired singers or some who had failed in their careers. They were all united there not because of fame, they were there just because they liked music and it was a good opportunity to share. One of the leaders of a band met her when she arrived. He asked her if she was Alicia. She said yes with shame because she thought he would judge her like everyone else in the industry. But he turned out to be different than she imagined. He was very kind to her and told her that he knew she was not like the others. He also told her that he was the one who had talked to his friends to tell him about the club and this meeting they were having.
He confessed to her that he had followed her career for years and that she had always seemed like an incredible guitarist to him. That was why he was so sorry for what had happened to her and how it had affected her. Alicia simply did not know what to answer to the first one. It had been a long time since anyone had spoken to her so kindly and above all he was one of the few who recognized that she was not like the others. She thanked him very much. Then he told her something that left her frozen. He told her that he had asked her to come to make him an offer. His band had been left without a guitarist a few days ago so they thought she would be the best for the job. Not because of her talent, which was very good by the way, but because he was also her fan. She almost sadly told him yes, that how could she refuse that offer, she had wanted a new opportunity for months.
He told her to get ready because in a week they were going on tour. And that's exactly what happened. In that week she left everything ready to go on tour with them. It was a second chance that life had given her so she had to take advantage of it no matter what. When she went on tour she shined, making her guitar sound better than ever before. The group gained a lot of popularity for having a female guitarist among its members. The best thing was that everyone in the end had to recognize that you can't judge people without having all the facts. Many bands later regretted not having hired her, Alicia was very good at what she did. And that is the lesson for us, never judge someone for the things that have happened around them without having all the facts. Now Alicia is once again a rising star.
