Being born with talent is a privilege. Many people don't have it and have to go out and find it. But for those who are born with it running through their veins, everything becomes a little easier. Helen is one of those people who are said to have been born with talent inside. Her ability is that she knows how to play the drums very well, it's her favorite instrument. At home, she is the only one who really knows how to play it. Her family doesn't know anything about music and out of the whole family, she is the only one who has this ability. In fact, when she was born, she didn't even know she had this talent, she discovered it much later.
She found out by chance when one day something very interesting happened at her school. It turned out that a music band visited the school to give a small concert for the students. Among the instruments they brought was the drum set, of course. While that band was rehearsing for the presentation, Helen became interested in the drum set. The player asked her if she wanted to play the instrument, she just had to ask. She said yes and that was when she played a drum set for the first time in her life. After that, she was fascinated by the instrument so she had her parents buy her an old second-hand drum set. With that she began to practice at home.
From time to time a musician from the school would personally come to give her some lessons and that was how she increasingly discovered that she really did have talent for this. So it didn't take long for her to realize that this would be her future in the future. Many years passed since then and the truth is that she couldn't find a place to exploit her talent. There were no vacancies in other bands for drummers in the city and she did not dare to play alone. So she remained, as they say, a diamond in the rough, because she simply could not fully squeeze out what she knew.
But she wasn't alone, despite everything, because her friends had always supported her in everything. And they realized that she was stuck in the same place, so they came up with a plan to help her get her career off the ground once and for all. Everything happened when one day they went to her house and she showed them how much she knew how to play. They were surprised by her good ability. But then Helen told them that she felt a little sad because she still hadn't found a way to move forward and be able to improve herself in what she liked, which in this case was playing the drums.
When her friends left her house that day, they started to discuss what they could do to help her. They were talking about this while they were walking along the road. Suddenly, on a lamppost, they saw that there was a small paper notice posted. It said that in a few days they would have a talent contest in the next town. And anyone who knew how to play an instrument was welcome. Well, right there, they saw that they could help her get off the ground if they included her in the contest.
One of her friends happened to have a picture of her on her phone and also had a picture of her driver's license. With those 2 pieces of information they could register her. They didn't want to tell Helen anything until they did so it would be a surprise. So they all got in a taxi and headed to where the auditions were taking place. When they arrived they showed the receptionist the video of Helen playing the drums at home. She said that with that talent she was eligible for the contest. Then her friends gave her the photo they had saved and showed Helen's driver's license. Now with that information the receptionist entered her into the contest. They were very happy because they knew they had done the right thing. Now it was time to surprise Helen.
The next day they returned to Helen's house. She opened the door and told them to come in. Then she opened a thermos of hot coffee and gave them each a cup of coffee. But she noticed that they were talking quietly and laughing. So she asked them what they were thinking and if they were hiding something from her that she didn't know. She thought it was that they didn't like her coffee. Pati told her, Helen, we have a surprise for you. And she answered what it was about. They told her, we have the solution to what you told us yesterday about not finding a way to get ahead with your career, we have entered you in a music and talent contest.
She wanted to fall down in fright. What did they do? She told them laughing. But she saw for herself that they were right, that would be a good way to do it. So after that conversation and when they left, she began to prepare immediately. Of course, she thanked her friends a thousand times for having done this for her. The contest was in a month so he took advantage of every day he had available to practice.
That month flew by faster than a plane and the day of the contest arrived. When she arrived she saw that there were very good musicians so she began to think that the die was practically cast so she did not have much hope of winning. Each one was thought out and the judges gave them a score. She was obviously at a clear disadvantage because there were good musicians there, very good ones. Even so, she managed to beat almost everyone and came in second place. But there was a pianist with a talent and a skill that dazzled the judges, so they gave him number 1. However, she was already mentally prepared that something like this could happen.
Not everything was disappointing, because the first 3 had prizes. The first place received about 25 thousand dollars in cash so it was the juiciest prize. For the third place there was a small scholarship for studies, so she could obtain more knowledge. And for the second place there were 2 special things too. A new drum kit, yes a new one, now that she could finally leave the old one she had for so many years. The second prize he was given was a contract with a band, said band was looking for a drummer, so they offered that position as a prize.
She was very happy because many people had known her thanks to the contest. Of course she didn't win the number 1 spot but this contest opened the doors to better things. She had a little more fame, more people knew her, she had a contract with a band for the first time in her life and as icing on the cake a new drum kit, what more could she ask for, it was more than she had ever wished for. And all thanks to her friends.
