From a poor family tormented by drugs, Ender grew up among 5 siblings, the fifth of his parents, he grew up in this Andean town with a pleasant climate, between dreams and games was his childhood, always accompanied by coffee plantations and roasted grains, he carried its aroma in his soul.
His parents, consumed by drugs, made his youth an ordeal, among beatings and mistreatment he grew up, marked by traumas that made his days a ordeal, this young man decided to leave home, although without a clear direction, he preferred to be in the dreary streets, than in the hell of his home.
That is how, at 17 years old, he decided to leave. After several days without clarity, he arrived at Don Humberto, El Señor del Café, a name nicknamed for his large coffee plantations. With tears in his eyes and a hunger that torments him, he begs for a plate of food.
Don Humberto looks at him and with a strong voice tells him: go to the house and look for something to eat, Ender with a ferocious hunger enters and eats, like a beast, when he finishes and is satiated, Don Humberto passes by and looks at him with compassion, takes his shoulder and with a paternal voice comments, I will give you a Christmas gift that will change your life.
Ender, with immense emotion, embraces him and waits anxiously to see that gift. After a few minutes, Don Humberto arrives with 45 kilograms of green coffee and tells him: I will not give you a job, but with this coffee, you will start a new life.
Ender takes the coffee and leaves, after walking several kilometers he throws the bag on the ground and shouts in annoyance: "What am I going to do with this! He sits down in despair and begins to cry, confused with that gift and not knowing what to do with it, he decides to throw it away, he goes to a lonely street and with a quick movement, leaves the package on the corner.
He runs so that no one sees that he left the coffee there, but by fate someone sees him and chases him until he catches up with him, asks him why he threw away that precious bean and not knowing what to do with it, Ender answers that he doesn't know what to do with that fruit.
The stranger smiles and invites him to his house, that afternoon was the most wonderful for Ender's life, the stranger showed him the art of coffee, how to roast it, then the threshing and grinding, and with an immense smile he takes him by the hand and shows him a small mill which he gives him as a gift.
Ender's happiness was immense, the tools and the knowledge he had obtained would make that gift become his life's work.
The days went by and Ender learned to roast, thresh and grind coffee, and day by day he went from house to house selling that Arabica coffee, until he made a living out of those 45 kilograms of coffee.
Don Humberto showed Ender that Christmas, that life gives us gifts, that it will change our destiny and that what hindered him for a moment, today is and will always be his best Christmas gift.
Merry Christmas, with a good coffee bean..
