Greetings to you my dear hivers! Is everyone doing well? I am going to show you today how I made one of my favorite Filipino treats, Polvoron.
Polvorons are a variation of the Spanish polvorones. Polvorones are traditionally served during the Christmas season. They are known for their crumbly texture. “Polvo” translates to powder or dust in Spanish. “Pulbo” in Tagalog also translate to powder. It is a Filipino shortbread cookie made with toasted flour, powdered milk, butter, and sugar. Polvoron is commonly spelled pulburon or polboron. It is also referred to as Filipino milk candies.
I was bored in the house, just sitting, thinking about what I should do. Then I thought that I wanted to eat something sweet today (I love sweets). I opened the fridge and found some butter. I also found some flour, powdered milk, and sugar. I hit the internet to look for what I could do with these ingredients and bwala! I could make polvoron with it, but I don't like it plain, so I decided to go buy some Oreo biscuits.
Another quick and easy recipe for a snack! Now, are you all ready? Let's get this started.
Ingredients needed:
For the Polvoron
- 1 cup Flour
- 1/2 cup Powdered milk
- 3/8 cup Sugar
- 3/8 cup Melted butter
- 6 pcs. of Oreo biscuit crushed
For the Polvoron:
Gather all the ingredients.
Heat a pan, put in the flour, and start toasting it. Remember to stir it to avoid the flour from burning.
Set aside and allow to cool. While waiting, start crushing your oreo biscuits.
In a mixing bowl, put in the flour.
Followed by the powdered milk and stir.
Next, add the sugar
Then add the crushed biscuit and stir again.
Lastly, add the melted butter and stir.
Make sure to mix well until it becomes crumbly.
Then, take out your polvoron molder. Start with one polvoron and work your way up!
Look at these tiny hands trying to help me make a polvoron. He looks so serious while making one. What a cutie.
After that, I placed it in the fridge to harden, and here it is! Such a sweet sight for my sweet taste buds!
One thing I love about this sweet treat is that it's addicting. After tasting one, you'll keep wanting more.
