My wife sent me a video about this miraculous egg that could provide power for a home for 10 years. Something the size of a backpack? Wait... Enron?
Those old enough
The name rang a bell so I went into the googles (as us boomers call it) and verified my suspicion. It turns out Enron was the company that went belly up all those years ago that showed America the true depth of white collar crime.
You know, it seems like a lifetime ago at this point, and it probably is. That being said, there are lessons here we as a society never truly learnt, and that is quite apparent.
But I do have to ask....
What is the joke?
Yes, this a big elaborate joke that some people with a lot of time and money, apparently, decided to work on to __________ fill in the blank.
I don't truly understand what's to be gained from this elaborate rouse, and.... I want in on the joke.
I feel like I'm being left out of an important message, because there is no way this was done for shits and giggles, there has to be more it.
A new element?
I'm not going to sit here and say I knew it was a joke from the start. The videos, available all over the place it seems, are done without a concern for costs. The props look great, and the actors do a pretty good job, I have to say.
But, if you read into their explanation of "how it works" and you learn that they've discovered Enronium and this discovery has allowed them to make their magical eggs, you should, like me, do the Phill Collins eyebrow face right away. (dated reference, I know).
Now...
Let me in on the joke
I wanna know why. I wanna know what can be gained from this, and who is truly behind it, because some deep pockets had to be involved.
Don't worry. I'm not about to start wearing tin foil hats or nothing, but I'm also not going to pretend this is just another day of the week either.
