I will try to be respectful here, but honestly it's bit hard at this point in time in my life. The truth is that all of us love a good conspiracy, but one thing is to entertain an idea for a minute, and the other one is wear a tin foil hat.
The hardest part for me has to be realizing that someone who I see as smart, has fallen for the crazy stories. I happen to know people who are highly educated and somehow still believe in crazy things that are straight out of the movies.
A good friend about a week ago or so, told me he's going to take his kids off school (I support freedom, and thus I know it's his choice) because, according to him, they are lying to his kids and telling them the moon landing actually happened.
He must have seen it in my face, because I'm sure I made one of those faces. But, and I ask sincerely. What kind of conversation can one possibly have after this?
I let him ramble, I let him tell me what was that all about. And, I learnt some interesting things about the moon. Turns out, it's hollow, thus has no mass, not really, so we couldn't possibly have landed on it.
This is being said to me in a town that is 1 mile away from the water where we can see tidal changes. We can see how much the water moves depending on the moon, and yet, it's not real?
But my friend who stopped believing in the moon is not the only example in my life. As a matter of fact, I happen to know some important people in our little blockchain who loved Q deeply. I tried, to no avail, to push back, but it was like talking to a wall and my interaction felt pointless.
But hey... Why does this happen? Why is it that there are people out there who spend hours of the day transvestigating females of notoriety, because they surely have penises and their husbands are obviously gay?
Is the internet eating up our normalcy? Are we forgetting how real life actually works?
I'm just blown away, almost weekly with the next crazy thing people are believing these days.
