It's Hot and Tired but.. We Thrive with Roti Canai!

I’m not sure why today feels so exhausting, especially since I wasn’t as busy as usual. At work, starting from 9 AM, the electricity went out. We were informed earlier that the power would be cut off until 5 PM for electrical maintenance in the area. Without electricity, it was really hot! My wife was in a meeting until 3 PM, and I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it must have been in that heat. So, the kids and I waited for her to finish. We stayed in the preschool classroom where she teaches. I ended up taking a nap from 1:30 PM until the meeting was over, haha. There’s a reclining chair in the classroom meant for the kids to rest, but today I used it instead, haha. Even though I managed to sleep, it was still so hot. Rex and Rez didn’t seem bothered by the heat, they were just excited to play on their phones since their exams ended today. After their primary school finished at 12:30 PM, they were already glued to their screens.

The meeting finally ended. Even though I had a short nap, my body, head, and arms felt so heavy and tired. Still, I pushed through and drove. We stopped at my mom’s house to pick up Eiona. She’s only 4 and hasn’t started school yet, so we asked my mom to watch her today. My mom missed her and was happy to spend time with her. After picking up Eiona, I headed to town to collect a book I’d ordered online. I was excited to get it, so despite being tired and facing heavy traffic, I still made the trip.

We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. It’s our go-to place when we want roti canai. The kids love it—Rex and Rez enjoy plain roti canai with condensed milk, while my wife and Eiona prefer theirs with chicken curry. I didn’t order roti canai for myself today because I was really hungry, so I got something heavier: chicken curry rice and a side of beef murtabak, paired with iced lemon tea. It was so filling. The others didn’t eat much since they had already had heavier meals earlier in the day.

We got home around 7 PM, and it was already dark. I still felt incredibly tired and just wanted to sit and rest. But I forced myself to finish all the usual evening routines at home. I let my wife rest early because she wasn’t feeling well, she said she had a migraine. Maybe the heat and all the waiting around today made us feel extra drained, even though we didn’t do any heavy work. By 9 PM, I finally finished everything and could relax properly. The kids, on the other hand, didn’t seem tired at all. I let them watch TV tonight until 10 PM since they’ve worked so hard over the past few weeks preparing for their exams. I truly hope they’ll get excellent results. Have a nice day everyone.
