Holiday Cheer: A Time For Gratitude & Reflection

in #hive-1538502 days ago

It is Christmas season for many but for me it's a month before the new year and a time to show gratitude in many ways and reflect on what has gotten better and will be better going into the new year. Every month is a month for love and self reflection so it's like a continuation for those who observe it, not focusing on only December.

I'm always hyped about holidays in any month because it gives me time to spend doing just anything I want and with the people I want. The kind of work my dad does, he hardly gets a long enough holiday for himself so we're mostly just alone with ourselves during holidays at home although this holiday is different for all of us.

I travelled back from where I serve since like two weeks ago and I plan to spend the remaining two weeks here before going back. I didn't have anything planned aside travelling to see my dad and siblings but things happened and that I won't get to see them until January in the new year for reasons I can't totally get rid of to go see them.

So this is me going through an unplanned holiday but surprisingly, it's been amazing and full of new experiences for me. It started with a training I went through that opened my eyes to a lot of things I had been so carefree about, that lasted through out the two weeks I've been here. In between, I also attended a love feast with my spiritual family which turned out really uplifting.

I've not had the time to reflect on my life through the whole year but considering the fact I've had to think through it to share past posts in this year, I'm not doing bad at all. But all experiences in this year points me to do better in the coming year. I spend time with mum and making sure to keep in good contacts with my family that are afar off.

Like I said, through this year, I've had new experiences and try out things that didn't work out and some worked out. My Bible teaches that "In everything, give thanks to God" and I can't thank Him enough especially for the fact that nobody in my family went through any severe case like bad health condition or lose of life or property, we have been living fine with our little.

I'm even more grateful to God for taking me down to a state I knew almost nothing about and I'll be done with what I was sent there to do in a few weeks time, I had no issues at all unlike the stories I've heard from people who were there. I'm also grateful for the lives of my friends and neighbours in the different places I've been to through this year, it's beautiful to see them excel.

Lastly, I'm grateful for the significant growth I've seen in my life generally. I'm still a work in progress but I see a better next year with how this year is ending and that is enough. My prayers to God is we all see the new year in good health as He has been doing and I look forward to making even greater progress come next year.

There are indeed many things to be happy about and obviously God deserves all the glory and praise.

We've come a long way in the year too and I pray we enter the next year much more better than we are and get to break more grounds than we did this year
