These two terms have been part of the great mysteries of life and are ones that we may still ponder on for centuries and still very little understanding of them. Most religious, cultural and spiritual bodies around the world believe in Destiny and Karma which in turn means most people believe in them but very little understand the concept. As a matter of fact, some religions believe only God or a supreme being understands this concept alone.
From my understanding, Destiny is the simply the timeline of an individual after events have happened. It is regarded to be one of the most spiritual aspects of some religions for example in Islam, for a person to be a complete Muslim, it is important that they believe in Destiny. This concepy is also held high in other religions like Buddhism, Christianity and traditional practices.
Some years ago I asked myself why should I believe in Destiny when I don't know what it is or seen it's manifestation. This question was brought about when I was told that whatever happens to me was my destiny and I can't control my destiny. Destiny made to seem like a safe zone or the best answer for events in life.
After years of learning and understanding some things about life and destiny itself, I've come to conclusion that I belief in in destiny but in a different way from what I heard as a kid. I belief we don't have control over some events in our lives like our death hence this events are destined to happen regardless of your faith or believe but no one knows the exact time it will occur. Our birth like some other event can be controlled. Other events what I choose to eat, what I choose to wear, where I choose to go, whom I choose to build a relationship with are also areas of our destiny that can be controlled. After these events have happened, we can say they were destined to happen or were a part of our destiny. The topic of Destiny is as mysterious as the topic of the existence of a supreme being but I believe there are some aspects of our Destiny that can be controlled while there are some we can't control.
Karma on the other hand is a less mysterious belief that for every action or deed whether good or bad, there's a reaction or result. This term exists in different religions and cultures all around the world but used in different languages and context. I completely believe in Karma because it is evident in our daily lives. It is taught in schools indirectly and in another context as the Newton's Law Of Motion which states that an object would continue to be at rest or move in a straight line unless acted upon by a force To simply put, Actions lead to a reaction.
As earlier mentioned, Karma is more evident in life and could exhibit itself in several ways. It is simply the result of actions we take. It may not be instant, but it would happen someday and sometime if the actions taken towards that result isn't altered. For example, the result for eating healthy foods and exercising is having a great body, stating healthy and having long life. On the other hand eating unhealthy foods and not exercising brings about obesity, diseases and shorter life span. Other example are the effects of drugs, unprotected sex with multiple partners, carelessness and crimed which all have results no one desires. On the other hand, being cautious of one's health, education, hardwork and consistency bring about results we desire.
However, I believe destiny and Karma are related in a way. We can say the result of an action can be called Destiny for example, an individual who eats healthy food and works out regularly would have a healthy body and disease free life. Hence we can say the individual was destined to have a great life because of the actions they took.
No one knows what the destiny of any person would be, but with current actions of the individuals we can have an idea of what might happen in the future. Destiny remains a mysterious topic but something that should be talked about often. Karma on the other hand is easier to understand and should also be talked about regularly so people understand the results and effects of their actions and deeds.
