They say in every disappointment, there's a blessing. Well, if you are the type of person who looks at the brighter side of life like me and tends to be happy regardless, then it's okay. Trust me when I say that not every disappointment is a blessing.
I came back home to Bayelsa State in Dec, and honestly, if you ask me about my stay here, it has been nothing but annoying. I got a job, worked for some months, stopped working, and stayed at home, then found a new job again, but I quit the same day because it was just too stressful and annoying. This year has been one hell of a ride for me. There were so many ups and downs, but even in the midst of it all, there were so many happy moments, and some were just too important to forget.
On June 6th, my little nephew Jason was born. (he's my favorite person right now) or should I say I'm obsessed with him? ( I wasn't the one in labor for hours, and I also didn't contribute to the pushing, but I'm his mom, too 😂).
Throughout that month, his mum was in and out of the hospital and I also had to stay with her throughout her stay there. I would leave work and go straight to the house and freshen up; then, I would go to the hospital and stay the night with her. It was a little bit hectic and stressful for me, but it was all worth it for my baby boy and sis-in-law.
After some time, she was discharged from the hospital. Since the baby wasn't ready to come out, she had to go and stay with her mum, who happens to be a midwife. So for some days, I didn't get to see her.
I was at the gym that day, having a little chit-chat with my coach, when I got a call from my sis in law that she had put to birth. Argh!!! I couldn't explain the level of joy I felt at that moment, I was so happy I ended my session immediately and went to the house. I was asked to bring some baby diapers and some other things to them.
Meeting my "sweetheart sugar boy" for the first time was so magical. I could not believe my eyes, because I got to finally meet the little boy we'd all been waiting for, 9 months ago. The same boy who would kick his mum's tummy like he was playing football 😂.
Up until now, Jason has been the best thing that has happened to me so far this year. He brought so much joy and light into my life. I'm away from home right now, and that means I don't get to see him for a while until December and that's pretty sad, but that's just how life is.
I'm going to be the most annoying and obsessive aunty he has ever seen because I'm so obsessed with him, my baby boy is just too cute and too lovable.
The day he was born, June 6th
Before I traveled, I made his hair lol. I was supposed to weave it, but he wouldn't stay still. It took me so much time and energy. His mum and I even had to sing for him before we were able to finish this tiny head of his, hahaha. Whenever I take him out for a stroll, I always get compliments from people saying your baby girl is so cute hahaha. I don't even bother to tell them it's a boy, and for some, they always look at his ear to see if he has any piercings, and then they would be like, oh, it's a boy, ohh!! It's always funny 😂.
So far, the month of June was my best month, a month I can never forget for the rest of my life because it gave me and my family a precious gift that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. A gift that brings so much joy to my face, lights up my world, and also gives me a reason to want to go back home from time to time.
