The question is, are we going to sacrifice knowledge for convenience???
I simply disagree with the idea of phones being used by students in school during classes and tests. I mean what's the point of reading if you can just go online and get the answers and then copy it down to your exam sheet?
There are so many Schools in Nigeria that don't allow the use of phones, and I think it's a great idea; our cell phones serve as a distraction unless you're disciplined.
If phones are allowed during a test, I don't think there would be any need for teachers to teach their students,just ask your questions on the same day of the exam so everyone can browse the answers and pass the exam. That way nobody will be a failure lol.
Albert Einstein would've been some ordinary guy if he didn't read and just wanted to use the Internet to answer all his curiosities. I'm sure if he didn't think with his brain if he didn't put his brain to the test, nobody would've heard of him today. We read to acquire knowledge.
The world of tech today is something else, maybe in some years to come, humans won't be needed to perform some major surgeries; robots/machines will. That might be our reality tomorrow and to make that a reality, is when the use of phones is allowed and people don't even know the littlest and simplest of things.
Long run or short run, it's not a wise idea for students to use their phones in class. I mean, what's the point of reading when you can just browse everything you need online, and you're good to go? If that was a good idea, medicine would've been a great course to study. I wouldn't have to read my book to be a doctor, all I have to do is go to school, pay my tuition, and after graduation, I look for a job and get one. If I were to perform surgery on a patient, I'd go online again and ask AI what side of the brain needs to be cut open and what type of gloves and all I need to wear to be able to perform the surgery. Then, I would get all the answers I needed to start the procedure, and the patient would end up going to the land beyond because I forgot to follow the last step, which was to stitch the wounds. And this is all because I was too lazy to read my book.
Teachers wouldn't be relevant: believe me when I say if this is made a thing, teachers would lose their jobs and AI would take over the teaching, because tell me why I would use my energy to teach a whole class for 1hr30mins only for them to not read the material and end up asking AI for the answer, they might as well not teach.
There would be too many dumb people on the planet;
A little convo between a doctor and a patient
Patient; Doc I'm having a little headache
Doc: Hmm, let's see, you said the pain is on the right?
Patient: Yes Doc
Doc: Goes straight to AI - when a person is having a slight headache on the right side of his head, what does it mean?
AI then gives him a stupid answer, and the dumb Doc goes on ahead to tell the patient that he/she has Staphylococcus Aureus 😂
Patient: faints immediately he/ she hears the news 😂...
You get the memo right, I just think learning and knowing these things is better than relying on AI and the Internet for answers during exams and tests.
