The street gangs, tenants, and the selfish landlord

We ain't going to sit down here and watch them cheat us and deprive us of our rights. Aaron, the leader of the "good gangs" said aloud, he paused and looked at the faces of the people, most of their faces speak of a sinking hope.

They want to believe him but it's hard for them to comprehend. Is it possible for Aaron to set them free from the ill-treatment they have been receiving from the landlord?

It is a small part of the busiest state in Nigeria, Lagos, and ever since the tenants got into the house, their water is not good and the light is not regular despite the huge amount of money they have been paying.

Aaron had gathered his street friends in the morning after one of the tenants had discussed the issue with them, he promised to fight for the right of the tenant and bring the wicked landlord to book and, he is going to bend over backward to do all it takes to end the hardship of the tenants.

The landlord was just stepping out of his car when Bobby, the youngest of the crew, saw him. One of the tenants summoned him the day before. He signaled Daniel and he approached him.

"Sir, you need to attend to the cries of your tenants for the last two years. If not, you will not like what we are going to do here" Daniel said with his authoritative baritone voice.

Okay okay, I will find something to do about it, is that why you are constituting a nuisance here.. The landlord, Mr Okoro said.

Me?? Constituting nuisance, I will show you the meaning of nuisance… Daniel shouted. Running from a distance, Aaron raised a big plank in the air to frighten Mr. Okoro.

Okay, I'm sorry… Mr. Okoro said when he realized he cannot handle the street boys.

So, your tenants complained to me that there is no water and light despite the bills they pay.

So. You are going to drill a borehole, the work must start today, and the electrician that will connect the light is on his way. So you have to cooperate with them. If you cannot make your tenants comfortable, why must you give the house for rent in the first place… Aaron continued

Mr. Okoro was frightened, he knows what the boys are capable of doing and if he messes up, they can even go to the extent of killing him.

Are you going to cooperate? Marion asked

Leave him, he should not cooperate... Aaron said frighteningl

I will co-operate... Me Okoro's leg was already shaking

One hour later, the drilling started and the electrician was on the second floor fixing the light...
The street gangster waited till 12 pm, collected money from the landlord and they promise to be back to check the progress of the work.

Sort:

Lagos landlords....lol. They'll tell you that it's business and you can move out if you want. The moment you move out, someone new is moving in and the cycle continues.

Good write up.
Even though violence is not always the solution, sometimes a little nudge is needed to threaten them for the comfort of the tenants.

Good piece

Yeah
Thank you

Smiles...the gang really helped the tenants a great deal
Landlords should please endeavor to treat their tenants fairly

Yes.. They can sometimes be frustrating
Thank you for your comment

Hehe, the landlord knew he was in for it if he does not cooperate.

Yes, he knows... He had to do the needful

Kind of sad a gang is needed to give people what they pay for.
