Freedom of expression, as well as being a human right, is a way of expressing thoughts and ideas in a way that can add more diversity to discussions or even dissatisfaction. Being able to express oneself without fear is unfortunately not a reality today. Not only authority, but also the other side of the population is always willing to interrupt if it's not something they'd like to hear. However, this is a right that should never be infringed.
I don't think it should ever be taken away from people, because if it is, not only will we live in a world that is less daring and open to creativity, but repressing the way people express themselves and their opinions will only have negative consequences. The more people have to measure what they say, the more the desire to say whatever they want accumulates and this could even cause an explosion of chaos at some point. I don't know if I'm being exaggerated when I say something like this, but it's a fact that, when we look at history, when something like this has happened, revolts have followed and we already know what the result is: a disproportionate imbalance.
I believe that there is a tension these days, a tension that is perhaps unspoken but that, deep down, everyone is feeling. It's increasingly risky to say things outside the box, because if you say something that the majority of people or the government don't agree with, depending on the degree of what is said, something is likely to happen to you. I've seen cases of people expressing themselves here in Brazil and being canceled in some way, I've seen people who expressed thoughts that went against the government and were silenced. There's no shortage of examples to further increase this kind of mentality that, in small doses, haunts people to stay in the middle ground and avoid exposing themselves.
I believe that, no matter what our opinion, this kind of tension won't change until something really explodes, be it a revolution or something similar. The internet often makes it easier for freedom of expression to be more active, but look, how far can we trust that there aren't some active restrictions in the algorithms imposed by governments so that certain types of subjects don't go viral? Or even in some cases, as recently happened here in Brazil, bans from social networks such as the old Twitter, which was one of the main means of explaining events.
In short, when we're not silenced by the government itself, it's also difficult to go against mass thinking, it's getting harder and harder to want to express yourself. Read the previous sentence again: I said wanting to express oneself and not being able to express oneself, because gradually people can also lose that desire to want to change something or impact other people with their thoughts for the simple fear of being rejected or punished.
We have the right to freedom of expression, which is very beautiful on paper within the constitution of laws, but gradually, without us realizing it, it is being taken away from us, either directly or even using the famous mass maneuver. It's difficult to do this through conventional means and perhaps this is the best time to give more value to places like Hive, where there aren't many ways to stop our words. A liberdade de expressão, além de ser um direito das pessoas, é uma forma de manifestar os pensamentos e ideias de forma que possa acrescentar mais diversidade nas discussões ou mesmo nas insatisfações. Poder se expressar sem ter medo não é uma realidade atual, infelizmente. Não somente a autoridade, mas também o outro lado da população está sempre disposto a interromper isso se não for algo que gostariam de escutar. Porém, isso é um direito que jamais deveria ser ferido.
Acredito que isso jamais deveria ser retirado das pessoas, pois, se isso acontecer, além de viver em um mundo menos ousado e aberto à criatividade, reprimir a forma como as pessoas se expressam e suas opiniões só vão trazer consequências negativas. Quanto mais as pessoas devem medir o que falam, mais se acumula a vontade de dizer o que bem entendem e isso pode até mesmo causar uma explosão de caos em algum momento. Não sei se estou sendo exagerado quando falo uma coisa dessas, mas é fato que, quando olhamos para a história, quando algo do tipo aconteceu, revoltas foram seguidas e já sabemos qual é o resultado disso: um desiquilíbrio desproporcional.
Acredito que existe uma tensão nos dias de hoje, uma tensão que talvez não seja falada, mas que, no fundo, todos estão sentindo. Está cada vez mais arriscado dizer coisas fora da caixa, pois se você diz algo em que a maioria das pessoas ou o governo não concorda, dependendo do grau do que é dito, é provável que algo aconteça com você. Já vi casos de pessoas se expressando aqui no Brasil e sendo canceladas de alguma forma, já vi pessoas que expuseram pensamentos que iam contra o governo e foram silenciadas. O que não faltam são exemplos para aumentar ainda mais esse tipo de mentalidade que, dosadamente, assombra as pessoas a ficarem no meio-termo e evitarem se expor.
Eu acredito que, não importa qual seja a nossa opinião, esse tipo de tensão não vai mudar até que algo realmente exploda, seja uma revolução ou algo parecido com isso. A internet facilita muitas das vezes que a liberdade de expressão seja mais ativa, mas veja bem, até onde podemos confiar que não existam algumas restrições ativas nos algoritmos impostos pelos governos para que alguns tipos de assuntos não sejam viralizados? Ou mesmo em alguns casos, como aconteceu recentemente aqui no Brasil, banimentos de redes sociais como o antigo Twitter, que era um dos principais meios de explanação de acontecimentos.
Enfim, quando não somos silenciados pelo próprio governo, também é difícil ir contra o pensamento em massa, está cada vez mais difícil querer se expressar. Leia novamente a frase anterior: eu disse querer se expressar e não poder se expressar, pois, gradualmente, as pessoas podem perder também essa vontade de querer mudar algo ou impactar com seus pensamentos as outras pessoas pelo simples medo de ser rejeitadas ou punidas.
Temos o direito à liberdade de expressão, que é muito lindo no papel que está escrito dentro da constituição das leis, mas, aos poucos, sem que percebamos, isso está sendo tirado de nós, seja diretamente ou mesmo utilizando a famosa manobra em massa. Está complicado poder fazer isso em meios convencionais e talvez esse até seja o melhor momento de darmos mais valor a lugares como a Hive, em que não existem muitos meios de frear as nossas palavras. Estamos tendo nossos direitos violados e, infelizmente, muitos nem estão percebendo rumo que as coisas estão tomando e quais as consequências de aceitar que isso aconteça.
