A gift for the new year - Trip to Alberobello and Bari (IT)

in #hive-16377210 months ago

From Reggio Calabria we went to spend the New Year’s Eve in Alberobello. It’s not the “partiest” place in Italy but it’s lovely and its people are lovely too.

Alberobello is a fabulous place known across the world for its famous buildings, known as “Trulli”. Here below a “Trullo”. “Trullo” in Italian is singular and “Trulli” in Italian is plural.

Trulli are an ancient type of building made from poor people living in the countryard. Now their value is really at a “VIP” level, becoming a very demanded place in Italy from foreigners especially.

Here are some Christmas decorations from Alberobello. Easy and stilysh: in an ancient style place like Alberobello, too much flashy decorations would have been out of place.

Close to Alberobello there is Monopoli, another great attraction for people going to the seaside. Still, very expensive during summer and that’s why vising these places during winter is a great solution: less people and less money :D

Here below, the best dish I had in Apulia, a traditional dish from Apulia that is a form of homemade pasta called “orecchiette”, literally “small ears” as they have the shape of small ears. The best way they cook them are made with: turnip greens, bread crumbles, and anchovies.

And following, a great landscape exactly from Monopoli, at the harbour, with a great projection on the building on the shore.

Here below some other pictures from Trulli. Honestly I loved Alberobello with all the buildings having that shape: they are very ancient, transmitting nice energy and they seem very home and welcoming to me

Here in Modena where I live, temperature are close to 0° Celsius while in the south of Italy during the day we were close to 20° Celsius so visiting the south of Italy during winter is always great for me to warm-up the body, to get some good Sun and seeing some nice places while the great part of tourists are in other places.

So, among Reggio Calabria and Apulia in the province of Bari, we visited real great places, in great company as we were together with two other couples and we had really great time together!

What beautiful places!
I also went there a few years ago and also saw the Fasano zoosafari; I have to say, though, that of Puglia I prefer the eastern part (the Gargano) which is less arid than the Ionian Sea.
If you get a chance, I recommend the caves of Castellana and Santa Maria di Leuca!

Indeed @erossilvagni
We have been to the Castellana caves as well but that will be a dedicated article :D

it is a very beautiful place, every white building there looks perfect and beautiful

Indeed. Trulli are an amazing creation: so easy and so charming at the same time
