Favour and his father sat in the parlour that cold morning, it was exactly 2 Am. An hour ago Favour had come back from a party he went to with his friends about nine hours ago.

His parents waited for him for hours but he was nowhere to be found, they had tried calling his line but it was switched off. His mom got so scared she walked all the way to the junction to wait for him. She was already in tears when he pulled up in a hired taxi limping and looking so weak.

She asked her son what happened to him but she got no answer, tears just rolled down his eyes.

When they got home Favours father pounced on him, he screamed and scolded him, saying he had joined a bad group where they go to parties at night. He tried to explain but his father wasn't interested. He was only interested in visiting Favours school the next day to complain to his principal. Favours mother Mrs Angela tried to intercede on his behalf but Mr Lawrence had made up his mind.

That night, Favour couldn't go to bed easily and when he finally did he was awakened by his father.

" Come to the parlour, I want to talk to you." he said as he tapped him.

Mr Lawrence was already seated when Favour finally made it to the parlour. "Sit down, I want to tell you something my father told me when I was your age," he said. Favour was a little bit confused as he had never had a real conversation with his father before.

When he was seated his father began talking.

My son, the rich man's wealth is in the city, don't be deceived by fake friends and people who only like you because of what you have.

The destruction of the poor is his poverty, but the destruction of your soul is vanity. I want you to rule your destiny.

As a Christian I have been blessed and touched by God. I love him so much, and you should too. He continued.

Life will keep on fighting you but don't ever give up, the realms of zion will fill your spiritual cup if you follow his commandments. Wisdom over standing can never be too much.

Your destination is homeward, though forces will try to hold you down, keep breaking chains and make it the norm. I know you will get through no matter what my son.

When he was done talking, he stood up and walked to his son. He helped him up and to his bed, where he massaged his legs.

Favour had gone through drills From soldiers who caught them smoking outside the hotel where the party was held. They demanded money before they let them go, but no one had the amount they demanded so they drilled the hell out of Favour and his friends.

In the morning Favour not only felt happy but relieved. It was time to find new friends.

The End..

The talk from his father really set him straight! I wish I had that power over my kids. Ha ha.

Bad influence is sometimes hard to notice by young people. Favour is lucky to have patient and wise father advising him like that.
