Garden Journal Weekly, 2nd March 2022

in #hive-1406353 years ago

It's a new month, so that means it's time once again to share your gardens with @riverflows' Garden Journal Challenge. Don't forget, she loves to see a garden selfie, so try not to be camera shy!

As I browsed through the homesteading tag it struck me what a broad spectrum of lifestyles are being shared here. With everything that's been happening in the world of late and the division it's been making, I'm looking on enviously at those who have chosen to move away from this rat race by stepping away from the towns and cities. @fenngen shared a day in his woodland life, where immediate concerns are warmth and food. However, as long as you have some form of media, you can't help but be drawn to thinking about what is happening in the world. @jacobpeacock also touches on this as he continues his remote, apocalyptic homesteading journey. Then a little less isolated, @trucklife-family has been learning dry stone walling skills and helping to plant trees in her community. How easy is to switch off from world events really, though, and should we completely?

Returning to the town,in more of a backyard setting, @cesarj21 has been transplanting and starting tree seeds. I sometimes forget gardening is about more than just growing food.

When I see @fermentedphil's name on a post I know I'm not going to be disappointed. Funnily enough I grow garlic chives myself and had no idea there was so much difference to standard chives. I'm going to be paying more attention to them from now on, especially when they start flowering.

I'll leave you with a post from @andrastia that brightened my day and I hope it brightens your too. How lovely is this garden planter of little Lory's! It's always great to see children getting passionate about gardening and I'm sure she was stoked to have gotten her own little veggie patch.

Thank you so much @minismallholding, Lory is so delighted and is excited every morning to go and check on her plants, it's very sweet to watch.

That is sweet. My daughters' attention to plants was only ever fleeting. Although my eldest now likes to have house plants and her partner keeps a balcony garden.

It's similar to my sisters - one is a greenie and loves everything that grows, the other one is only really good at killing them lol.

I think having some form of space dedicated to growing is great, even if it's just a shoe box, it helps 😃 so a balcony of plants is awesome, I wish I had that much space to dedicate to it.

It's taken me a long time to stop killing plants if I'm entirely honest. I still don't always manage to avoid it even now. 😅

I think we all do this, we just try not to admit it

This reminds me I have an orchid that I probably need to water 🤣

I sometimes forget gardening is about more than just growing food.

Same here (^_^) I sometimes forget. Also, little Lory brightens my day. One more thing, I always love reading this Garden Journal (which is always amazing). Good afternoon!

I'm glad you enjoy. 🙂

Does your young man take an interest in the plants? Always great when children are drawn to nature.

Once in a while, my little man would get some plants in his auntie's garden then he will bring them inside our room, he hasn't been able to join me in my vegetable garden though...

A beauty-full & inspiring curation @minismallholding - great job!!

It's starting to be hot season here, with 39C-40C max most days and the overnight plummeting to about 27C 😆 so gardening vicariously is a little cooler! 🤣 I'm excited always to see what others are doing.... and invigorated to get up a little earlier.

Thank you.
At those temperatures nocturnal gardening seems better. Probably attracts more mosquitoes, though...🤔

Such a wonderful growing gardening community! I bet if you were to ask everyone sleeps with their head in compost and all sorts of dirt under their nails. Such a colourful group you mention @minismallholding

Best I start painting my nails irridesent colours so that nobody notices the dirt!

Honestly, if I HAD to give up all communities bar this one, I'd do it easily and happily. Your newsletter always makes my heart fair explode - honestly, and I'm not just saying that coz it's humid in Victoria and I've had a wine. You present this so beautifully and I love every person you reference, feeling sooo inspired by their writing this week!!!!

Awww, thank you. Are you sure it's not the wine talking? 😉

Humid in Vic? Are you getting some of that rain from the north? We've had so little recently again. I wouldn't mind a bit.

it IS a great one :-) And im itching to get back into the garden... once these jolly flood waters go away....

soooo much water... so silly in 2 months i will be like "why is there no water"... mother nature is a powerful beast.

Sarah

Hahah that comment that we all relate to!!!

Always a great read, always more folks to follow

It's good to dig them out of the woodwork. 🙂

Thank you so much for the mention! Next time, bend down and smell the flowers. Maybe my memory has some honey-scented link to it, so when I smell it I only smell honey! Maybe you smell something different or have a different connection to the smell.

It will be a while before they flower again, so I'll have to try and remember. I just hope they don't get trapped to death when my husband and father do their work on the runs in that area.

Oh no! I hope they survive. I have so many flowers now, it is actually incredible. I cannot wait to harvest and plant again. They are like gifts that do not stop giving. Best of luck!

The people doing V2K with remote neural monitoring want me to believe this lady @battleaxe is an operator. She is involved deeply with her group and @fyrstikken . Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant prove she is the one directly doing the V2K and RNM. Doing it requires more than one person at the least. It cant be done alone. She cant prove she is not one of the ones doing it. I was drugged in my home covertly, it ended badly. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Ask @battleaxe to prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the V2K and RNM in me is being broadcast from her location. And what the fuck is "HOMELAND SECURITY" doing about this shit? I think stumbling over their own dicks maybe? Just like they did and are doing with the Havana Syndrome https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

Hello! Thanks for including me here @minismallholding, I always enjoy your writing style. I think it is genuine, fun, and the way that you describe our posts makes me want to check on all of the ones that you mentioned.
I will be preparing my #GardenJournal to share with this warm community of homesteaders and green working bees. Regards to everyone, I admire you all so much.

Thank you and it was a pleasure to both read and share your post. I hope you enjoyed the others too.

Greetings @minismallholding. I loved reading this Garden Journal Weekly, I think it's the first time I read you, although I am subscribed in this Community The Hive Garden but I only have saved material to share and I'm still slow to bring it to light, I must decide soon and manage my time better because I love nature. Besides, in the communities we grow together learning from everything a little bit of ourselves. That is the most beautiful thing.

A virtual hug ♥

If you find the time I look forward to seeing what you share.

Yes, I hope it will be soon. I'm doing a little bit of everything, but with a lot of love, to do it well because Hive deserves it.

Here's another virtual hug ♥
