Evidence that death is not nothing

In part of this talk delivered by Venerable Fatzang, the master spoke of a story about evidence that death is not nothing.

One of his followers was afraid of death since a kid. The father of this follower used to give the assurance that upon death everything ceases and nothing happens. The kid came to believe that, which is delusional according to Buddhism.

When the father suddenly passed away while traveling overseas, his children flew over to see the dead father who had been dead for a couple of days.

It was then the dead father, lying there, was seen having blood flowing out of his orifice for the children to see.

All the children immediately knew that their father was trying to tell them that he had been wrongly telling them about death. There is something the dead goes through after dead.

The father must have used everything he can while in the bardo state to try to tell the children about what’s there after death, since he waited for the children to come to show blood flowing from his orifice.

The children knew at once what the father is trying to convey.

They all become Buddhists thereafter and practiced the Buddha Amithaba’s name recitation. It is important to dedicate the merits to the deceased.

The master Venerable Fatzang urges all to commit oneself to the Buddha name recitation so that we can prepare ourselves for what’s to come after our death.

Hopefully you learn something from this and recite Na Mo A Mi Tuo Fo as much as you can.
