Ever imagined falling in love with the angel of death?
Hello there movie lovers; today is for one of my favorite K-dramas. When I started developing an interest in K-drama (which was late last year), the first movie I saw that completely drew me in was Alchemy of Souls. I couldn't get enough sleep at night for days because I was completely hooked. Right after that, I came across Guardian: the Great and Lonely God, I told myself I was never leaving K-drama alone! Me and them, 🤞 (tied forever!). So today, I want to share one of my all-time favorites, Doom at your Service (2021). The story is about a girl named Tak Dong Kyung (Park Bo-young) who is diagnosed with a brain tumor and has a few months to live.
Out of frustration, she gets drunk and wishes for the world to come to an end, unknown to her that her wish has been heard by the angel of destruction or doom, Myul Mang (Seo In-guk). So he appears at her door, and because she can't go back on her words due to dire consequences, she signs a hundred-day contract with him. But you know how the saying goes, man cannot live without love. So even as doom blooms around them, love blooms perfectly too.
The unpredictability of the movie is what keeps it going. You never know what's going to happen next, just like in Alchemy of Souls (if you've watched it). You hold your heart in your hands while watching because you are rooting for this unusual couple to both make it through the seeming destruction at hand while wondering at the same time what will hit next.
Of course, there are other love stories in the background, such as the love triangle between Tak Dong Kyung's best friend, Na Ji Na, and the two friends, Joo Ik and Hyun Kyu. These three also share a thrilling love story that keeps us going when we are not watching the two main actors.
I don't think I have any dislikes in the movie. I greatly applaud the acting skills of the main actors, especially Myul Mang, his facial expressions are priceless. He just makes acting look so easy. Comprising only sixteen episodes, the movie is a must-watch and a big relief for those of us who do not like watching movies with too many seasons or episodes ✌ ️. So, if you are a lover of romance, intrigue, and fantasy (packed in one single explosive season), this movie is for you. You can catch it on Netflix. ❤️
