Who are Prolific?
Prolific is an online platform that connects researchers with participants for various studies. Participants can earn money by completing surveys, tasks, and experiments.
Prolific was founded in 2014 by Phelim Bradley and Ekaterina Damer and is based in Oxford in the UK.
They have had various rounds of investment and have grown significantly in the last few years. We here at MMO have been performing surveys there for about 3 or 4 years.
The surveys now also include the rating and checking of AI material so it is quite interesting.
How to start?
- Sign up: Create an account on the Prolific website. Note there are no referrals or invite codes etc.
- Complete your profile in the About You section: Provide information about yourself, such as your age, location, interests, and education.
- Browse studies: Search for studies that match your profile and interests.
- Apply for studies: If you meet the criteria for a study, you can apply to participate.
- Complete the study: Once you're accepted into a study, you'll be given instructions on how to complete it.
- Get paid: After completing a study, you'll be paid a set amount of money.
Note that completing your profile might exclude you from some surveys but overall it will open you up to more.
They are fast payers, and you can withdraw or cashout direct to PayPal and it is generally instantaneous.

Do they Pay?
One of, if not the biggest questions about making money online, is whether the site pays and how quickly.
At Prolific they pay fast and as long as you keep your account in good standing and answer the surveys diligently then you will be cashing out to PayPal on a frequent basis.
The surveys and tasks vary in length and accordingly the pay varies.

What can I do the surveys on?
It is all browser based ... But you can use a laptop/desktop, tablet or mobile. The researcher will specify what device is to be used.

Who can participate in studies on Prolific
Prolific is available for participants from most OECD countries, with the exceptions of Turkey, Lithuania, Colombia and Costa Rica where Prolific is not available.
