I'm a lady that doesn't take my family for granted, they are a set of people I can go extra miles for because they are the shoulder I lean on at every stage of my life. My nuclear family is extremely important to me to the extent that there is nothing, I mean absolutely nothing I can't do for them, this makes me consider them as my number one and my jewel of inestimable value.
So I definitely believe in the phrase "family comes first" but when we are talking about who to prioritize first between my family and myself, I'm glad to let you know that "I am my top priority".
On a serious note, I'm not being selfish here, but my wellness and everything about me mustn't be tampered with if I want the family that I love dearly to be at peace, so doing everything to love myself first will make me reciprocate the love to others whether they are my family members or not.
I need to be alive, healthy and emotionally balanced to take good care of my family because they need me at my best. If anything should happen to me the whole family will be in chaos which will cause them pain, so taking good care of myself is very important.
As a lady who will soon be a Mum, I need to know how to manage myself for the sake of my husband and kids so that everything will be in order, if I can be physically and mentally stable then the family will run in the right direction.
Placing myself as top priority means putting myself on the track for personal growth and development. By making myself first, I will know the areas I'm lack and needs improvement. No one want to be associated with a dullard, so I need personal improvement so that my family will be proud of me.
Placing myself first also means I need time to breathe, I need to calm my brain when been stressed or overwhelmed by life challenges. It's very easy to get bogged down with family issues here and there in which you won't have time for yourself but when you make yourself the first priority you just have to restrain yourself once in a while and look for a way to breathe and rest your nerves.
Choosing myself first has been helping me and I can't take it for granted, so aside my creator who is the supreme in my life, myself comes first.
