The previous season in Splinterlands was my first after a few years away from the game and I have to admit that Splinterlands has changed a lot since the time I played. Back then, reaching the Diamond league was a dream that few achieved because the game was extremely competitive and you would have to rent the best cards and have a great strategy to reach that league. I don't even need to mention the Champion league which was even harder to reach and for a player like me who didn't have much skill in the game and also a lot of money to invest, then it was an impossible dream.
After returning to Splinterlands and testing the current competitiveness in the game I realized that it became much easier to reach these 2 leagues because with just an investment of 200 DEC per day renting cards from the Gold league, I was able to reach the Diamond league 1 and I probably would have reached the Champion league 3 if I hadn't had entry in the middle of the season and had to climb from the Novice league to the Diamond league first. But I'm talking about Wild Mode, which from what I've noticed is the Bots' territory, so many players use low-level cards in the higher leagues and it's only from the Champion league onwards that battles become more competitive, especially for those who want to reach the top 50 on the leaderboard.
Why am I playing in Wild Mode?
I chose Wild Mode because I don't like having only 2 editions of cards to play with. Most of my battles are with cards from the Chaos Legion edition and it wouldn't be a problem to play in Modern Mode since I'm more used to that edition, but sometimes I like to use cards from the Alpha/Beta and Untamed editions in my battles to develop more strategies and in my opinion, having all editions available makes the game more fun. Another reason for choosing Wild mode is that I need to spend time with my family, so when I don't have time I like to leave Xbot active so that I don't miss precious moments with them. I have to admit that the bot plays better than me, but it doesn't change the fact that even with a Gold league deck I'm still able to reach the Diamond league easily.
See the Battle
This is a battle that took place in the Diamond 1 league and even with my opponent using some more powerful cards than me I was able to defeat him, but I have to admit that I was lucky because he didn't use any cards with magic attacks, otherwise the result would have been different.
The stars of the battle were the Summoner Astral Entity and the Ever-Hungry Skull Monster. Since my opponent didn't have any cards with magical attacks, the Ever-Hungry Skull having a large shield was the cherry on the cake because with the Astreal Entity's Resurrection ability he was able to defend himself against 20 physical attacks with the shield and also thanks to the Dodge ability that the Astral Entity grants to my monsters, they were able to dodge some attacks and this was a great help because there was the Back to Basic rule where all monsters lose their abilities, so my monsters having an ability gave me a great advantage in battle. There was also the Close Range rule that makes all ranged monsters able to attack in the first position and I think that's why my opponent ignored the cards with magical attacks and chose only ranged cards since they usually have a higher attack.
My experience with the game has been pleasant so far, I'm having fun and I'm looking forward to the new Survival mode that will be released soon, until then I will improve my skills in the game and develop a strategy to reach higher leagues and also increase my earnings.
