Parenting is a great task that must be undertaken by two people who have agreed to stay together to raise their wards. It is a natural phenomenon to have the father and mother of a child to bring the child up in an atmosphere that would help the child grow into a responsible adult in the near future. The place of the father in the life of the child is as important as that of the mother.
However, the absence of one of the parents may not be the best for the child's upbringing. Research has shown that most children who grew up without one of the parents do not find it interesting like those who have both parents.
There could be consequences in a situation where a child does not have any of his or her biological parents involved in their upbringings.
Identity Issues
A child that grew without either of his parents may struggle with their self identity. There had been cases where a child who reported does not have his father asking whether he actually has a father and trying to find out his origin from his mother. The case may be that of being disconnected from the family of the missing parents. As we all know, parenting is all encompassing and the family lines keep extending but when a parent is missing in line, then the issue of identity may affect the child's rights to trace who he really is.
No Models
Many children use their parents as role models. It is true that most children become like their parents when they attain adulthood. This is why you hear slogan like As father as son and so on. This singular consequence affects the decision making skill of the child.
Financial Issues
Most children who struggle through life are usually products of single parenting. This is why the two parents must come together to train the child. One source of income, on the average, is not usually enough to support the child through life. A child may be affected in the area of opportunities he could have had when the two parents are involved in nurturing the child.
Strained Relationship
When a parent is absent in the life of a child and especially when there are unsettled issues, it may lead time a bitter family relationship for the child. The absence of either parents becomes a diva point where the child is in the middle of the red sea without a head way to resolving issues that links both parents.
It is there fore advisable that a child be allowed to enjoy the benefits of being brought up by both parents. This is sacrosanct to the child is a good modelled child who will affect his immediate environment positively is to be birthed.
Parenting as said before is a huge tool is building a good child. The place of the father as the one who provide social security for the child is very important as that of the mother who nurtured the child and ensured his behavioural pattern and ability to tolerate other people irrespective of their social status can not be over-emphasised.
