THE LAW OF GIVING AND RECEIVING

We all have that one friend /acquaintance who always wants to take but never gives. What happens after a while? We get tired of their excessive desire to only take and we may start avoiding them.

We also have that friend/acquaintance who would comfortably give you anything. It is easy for us to reciprocate this gesture with this set of people mostly because we know they would easily do the same for us.

I was having a discussion with a friend some time ago and we were talking about giving. He said sometimes people don't give because they don't have. I am of the opinion that people give not because they have in excess, because they want to. There's a difference.

Sometime ago, I was listening to a sermon and the preacher said "anything that is receivable is giveable". If it is something we would like to have no matter the value then it should be something we are able to give.

One awesome thing about giving is that it influences people around you. I wasn't always a giver, I learnt to give because of a friend. She can give almost anything without expecting anything in return.

Giving without expecting anything in return is the highest form of giving in my opinion. That way, you do not feel disappointed when people you have given to do not reciprocate.

Giving does not always have to be material things. Sometimes we give our time - which is our most valuable asset if you ask me, kindness, love, attention, anything worth receiving is worth giving.

One thing I've learnt about giving is that, regardless of the value. It always means something to someone. I also relate giving to love. You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.

It is like a general rule once you give in one way or the other you will receive. It may not be immediately, or in the same magnitude but it always comes back.

It could come as an answer to a question, or a solution to a problem. It comes in the form of anything.

We should learn to cultivate the habit of giving, it should not just be a one time thing. Giving should be part of our daily activity.
