What does music mean to you? Is it perhaps a simple distraction? Is it work? Or is it your greatest passion? What percentage of importance does it have in your life? Well, I believe that many questions could be asked about this infinite and culturally transcendental element in the world; and not only in the world, if by chance extraterrestrials exist, they surely have their own musical expressions.

In our case it does not have a single function, we could say that it is a passion that helps us a lot to distract us from the madness and freneticism of today's world, you can not imagine how therapeutic it is for us, in fact we listen to it in any state of mind in which we find ourselves. Nowadays it has an additional function for us since belonging to the moderation of Hive Open Mic forces us to evaluate other people's performances, which for us is a new and atypical activity but we have already got used to it.

The truth is that we would have liked to have dedicated more time to music in our childhood and we don't mean to listen to it but to learn it, having theoretical knowledge at an intermediate level would help us a lot nowadays. Maybe before it was easier to appreciate and learn music because we took life a little more calmly and it was much easier to pay attention and focus on being excellent at whatever it is you chose to study or take as an extracurricular activity, but we must move forward with what we have.

Regarding one of the initial questions, we would have liked to say that music is a job, we always say that if we had studied music we would probably be in another place, maybe we would be in front of a stage on weekends in front of an audience or we would be giving classes to children hungry to learn; the truth is that any of these ideas pleases us, although if you do one of the above mentioned things you might think that we are crazy and that we do not know what we would be getting into.

Music has always been in our lives, somehow it was always fluttering everywhere. Since we were children, the soundtracks of the soap operas our parents watched, the series our older siblings watched and the animated series we started watching at a very early age, generated a mark in our mind every time we listened to them that caused us certain sensations, in fact if we perceive one of those songs right now we can easily transport ourselves to those moments.

In our country (and surely in yours) there was a program on Saturday afternoons called "Sábado Sensacional" in which great national and international artists were presented and in those times this day was a family reunion because it was a unique opportunity to enjoy first hand the musical hits of the moment, since obviously the internet was not an option and perhaps the resources were not enough to obtain the records of these artists.

In those times salsa and merengue were the reigning genres and had practically no competition in the general population beyond some people who in an underground way listened to Rock or other genres perhaps linked to the cultural roots of each one but without a doubt they were a minority. This may not have changed much but we must recognize that there is an unmentionable genre that ends up "ton" that has risen to great heights but we think this is worldwide.

It is very likely that the above mentioned has forged directly or indirectly what we are today musically, there are things that the mind is registering unconsciously and then looking for ways to put into practice, perhaps we sing as we sing, we listen to what we hear and dance what we dance for those experiences that we accumulated over the years and that were generating a certain identity in us, coincidentally we had a very similar childhood in terms of musical influences.

Right now the musical activities we do are clearly linked to this platform and that makes us very happy, in fact we can say that this has given another meaning to our musical lives, to be able to share, read the nice comments of people we do not know or we met and are already our friends, receive rewards for our work, learn from others and improve what we do is certainly a sign that we now have a different and positive direction, in fact probably before there was not even a very clear path.

Determining a percentage is complex, there are so many things in our lives that have different priorities, so much to take care of and worry about that the figure could be subjectively very low or very high, but since we already got into this problem with that question we will say that music has a 20% of importance in our lives; this figure does not seem small to us but it is surely a very changeable value. In short, music has a very high value for us that leaves only positive vibes and joys for our lives.

It has been a while since we had a publication in this prestigious community that we love and that invites us to express what has our heart about music, this time we have had an outbreak of inspiration and we hope that these arise more often to continue sharing them with you.

Maybe you want to tell us what music is in your life, we know it is not easy because it can be something very changeable but it would be interesting to know what you feel right now. Thanks for putting up with all these letters and making it this far, a big hug!

Music is everything to me, it's something I can't do without, it's what I breathe. Without music life would be boring to me, but with it in my life is sweet and awesome. I love music.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece with us.

It was an honor to have shared these words with all of you, receiving comments like these are the best reward for our work. Greetings and thank you for your support!

You're always welcome.

I just wonder how life would have been without music..

Without music we would not be talking at this moment and we would not live the beautiful things we lived in Hive, and surely many more tragedies; the truth is hard to imagine!

Wao! All thanks to music for the bringing us all together

Music mean alot to me and I love music so much

For us it also has a deep-rooted meaning in our lives. Thanks for stopping by to comment, best regards!

Music means a lot to everyone of us in different perspective. To some, it might be a distraction, to some it might be a strength.
To me, whenever I'm down and i play music, it gives me this sweet feeling of strength.
I love music a lot.

But someone like me that have four different musical skills, singing, piano, drums, and guitar.... it's hard for me to discover my musical focus.

I'll publish an article relating to that very soon.
I hope to see you there

For me...
Music is beyond words and even lyrics. It's such a unique expression that finds origin in the very sight and sounds that surround us... and every human responds to it.

Even the unborn baby responds to music!
According to UNICEF,

"Listening to music during pregnancy will not only have a soothing and uplifting effect on the pregnant woman, but also a positive influence on the unborn baby.
Around 16─18 weeks of pregnancy, the little one hears its very first sound.
By 24 weeks, the little ears start to develop rapidly and babies have been shown to turn their heads in response to voices and noise in the last few months of pregnancy, an unborn baby can recognize her mother’s voice, her native language, word patterns and rhymes.."

The article you share is undoubtedly irrefutable proof of the high value of music, something like this is very difficult to conceptualize and express as you say, with simple words.
