Hello Wednesday Walkers!
I left you with a bit of a cliffhanger last time at the Frankfurt train station. Which train did I take? As you can see I took the train to Dresden Neustadt which is the walk I want to share with you today at my destination.
As you arrive at Dresden Neustadt station, it is an impressive building with a very open space entrance. There are actually two main train stations in Dresden, this one and the main central station. In reality, they are quite close to each other and I will visit that one next time.
The view from the square in front of the train station shows you some roadworks taking place. Lots of the city is being modernised and updated. It has a very relaxed vibe to it for sure. There is an area in the center of the square with trees for shade. This is important on a hot day. Underneath I found a few drunks drinking there and some passed out on the floor.
Before going and exploring the station further, I found there was a cellar area to the station.
As you go inside you are greeted by a nice open hall with many food purchasing opportunities. Chinese noodles among them and here are some of the fresh sandwiches that were on offer.
I explored further and crossed the station completely and exited to the other side. There was not too much to see here.
Exploring further onto the platforms I walked as far as was allowed and took a photo of the bridge and some of the views.
I traveled to the other side of the station and took some more photos, this time I could see towards the old town and you can make out the church tower in the distance.
Inside the station on the platforms, it wasn't so busy and everything was quite relaxed. The heat was quite intense though!
An ICE train arrived which I managed to capture here. I also found plenty of snacks available from the vending machines here.
Thanks for joining me on today's walk. Until the next time.
