Buying my first NFT stamps.
I was pleasantly surprised last month when I heard that Deutsche Post will be releasing as they call it, a Crypto Stamp ("Krypto-Briefmarke").
The way it is working is that you can order the stamps you want and you get a physical stamp but also a digital copy that you can hold in a wallet as an NFT free of charge.
You order a booklet with the stamps and then it gives you also access to the Stamp NFT. The collection is limited to 250k stamps so they could become quite collectibles. You can order in Germany and internationally.
The stamps are of the Brandenburg Gate and the ones that I have ordered cost €9,90 each. It will be interesting to see if the NFTs will appreciate in value because it will be the first Deutsche Post NFT! I guess you could call them the Genesis Collection.
Therefore I have ordered 2, in case I want to trade 1 later. This also saved me postage costs for the booklet. Yes Deutsche Post don't deliver their own products postage free.
Once the booklet with access to the stamps arrives, it will tell you how to setup your Metamask and then gain access to your stamps. Although this is a limited edition, it is possible that this could be the beginning of stamps becoming NFTs and Metamask reaching a much larger audience until now. This is why Hive should have an account creation and access process through Metamask as a signing device implemented as a priority imo.
To get the NFTs you need to use a newly created service called Cipers.me which seems to be on Polygon. This is a pretty new service which seems to have been created specifically to use with this Deutsche Post NFT Stamp launch.
The website claims to allow you to collect and trade your stamps. I have already registered and you do that with an email and password.
Once registed, you can see that I have no stamps currently visible. It is now ready for when my booklet arrives. I can scan the QR code and then link my wallet and import my stamp NFT. I presume the stamps are already minted on chain. But I am excited to get it setup and import my stamps hopefully next week when the booklets arrive.
Although I am not a stamp collecter per se, I do have some older stamps laying around and did dable abit in the past. I am however, a lover of NFTs and like to collect them. Especially genesis or limited edition ones.
Once the stamps arrive and I have added them to my collection, I will give a further update.
Thanks for reading.
